  2. 2. Colonisation and extinction of vascular plants on islands off the Swedish east coast

    Författare :Anders Löfgren; Lars Ericson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; plants; ecological succession; colonizing ability; population dynamics; grasslands; islands; Sweden; plant ecology; Plant Ecology; växtekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Persistence of species is a function of colonisation and extinction among patches at a regional scale. A decrease in area and an increased isolation of suitable patches may result in a decreased colonisation rate and an increased extinction rate among species. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Neutrophil recruitment in H. pylori induced inflammation: characterization of regulatory factors

    Författare :Mikael Innocenti; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Helicobacter pylori; endothelial cells; neutrophils; monocytes; transendothelial; migration; chemokines; cytokines; adhesion molecules inflammation; LPS; CagPAI; VacA;

    Sammanfattning : Helicobacter pylori, a bacterium colonizing the human gastric mucosa, is strongly associatedwith the development of gastric and duodenal ulcers, as well as gastric, adenocarcinoma.Virtually all infected individuals develop active chronic gastritis characterized by a continousinfiltration of neutrophils as well as mononuclear cells. 4. 4. Secondary metabolites from the saprotrophic fungus Granulobasidium vellereum

    Författare :Christina Nord; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The production of secondary metabolites by the saprotrophic fungus Granulobasidium vellereum was investigated. G. vellereum is a wood decomposing basidiomycete fungus that arrives at dead trunks of fallen hard wood trees at a later stage of the decomposition process and hence need to outcompete the organisms already colonizing the site. 5. 5. Helicobacter spp. interactions with mucins: adhesion and mucin regulation of pathogen proliferation and gene expression

    Författare :Emma C Skoog; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Helicobacter; mucin; glycosylation; Lactobacillus; adhesion; proliferation; gene expression; CagA; SabA; BabA; ArsS; Fur;

    Sammanfattning : Helicobacter pylori colonizes the gastric mucosa of approximately half of the world’s population and is a risk factor for gastritis, peptic ulcers and gastric cancer. H. pylori is surrounded by, and adheres to, the heavily glycosylated mucins that build up the mucus layer. The carbohydrate structures on the mucins that act as ligands for H. LÄS MER
