  1. 1. Associations of sex, anthropometric and reproductive factors with clinicopathological and molecular characteristics of colorectal cancer

    Författare :Jenny Brändstedt; Tumörmikromiljö; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; colorectal cancer; carcinogenesis; MDCS; anthropometrics; risk factors; sex differences; hormonal therapy; beta-catenin; cyclin D1; p53; MSI; KRAS mutation; BRAF mutation;

    Sammanfattning : Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common cancer globally, with approximately 1.2 million new cases every year. The highest incidence rates are seen in developed countries, thereby imposing dietary and lifestyle factors in the etiology of CRC. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Cancer of the Colon and Rectum : Prognostic Factors and Early Detection

    Författare :Ulrik Wallin; Helgi Birgisson; Niels Qvist; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; colorectal cancer screening predictive markers prognostic markers;

    Sammanfattning : Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common causes of death from malignant disease. Nevertheless, no ideal screening method exists and there is a lack of prognostic and predictive factors to support clinical decisions and to aid the development of a more individualized treatment for patients with CRC. 3. 3. Hereditary Nonpolyposis Colorectal Cancer - Molecular Genetics and Biology of Associated Tumors

    Författare :Maria Planck; Bröstcancer-genetik; []

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on one of the most common types of hereditary cancer, hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC). This syndrome is characterized by an autosomal dominant inheritance, an increased risk for several types of cancer (especially cancer of the colorectum, small bowel, endometrium, ovary and urinary tract), early age at diagnosis, and frequent development of multiple primary malignancies. Sammanfattning : Background Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second most common malignancy in developed countries. The mortality is high, with nearly half of patients dying from the disease. The primary treatment of CRC is surgery, and decisions about additional treatment with chemotherapy are based mainly on tumor stage. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Different genetic pathways involved in colorectal cancer

    Författare :Sima Salahshor; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the three leading causes of cancer mortality worldwide with an incidence of approximately one million cases and a mortality of 500 000 annually. Identification of different pathways involved in tumorigenesis of both familial and sporadic colorectal cancer may led to a major breakthrough in the prevention of this potentially curable disease.
