  1. 1. Modelling and inference of relative collision safety in cars

    Författare :Anna Vadeby; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Collision; Mathematical model; Head on collision; Injury; Risk; Car; 91 Road: Vehicle design and construction; 91 Road: Vehicle design and construction; 85 Road: Personal injuries; 85 Road: Personal injuries;

    Sammanfattning : We propose a new mathematical model for relative collision safety in cars. Our present research is restricted to head-on crashes between two cars and we try to determine how much of the injury risk in a crash that depends on car model. The relative risks include the driver populations of the different car models. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Collision Avoidance Theory : with Application to Automotive Collision Mitigation

    Författare :Jonas Jansson; Fredrik Gustafsson; Jonas Ekmark; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Avoiding collisions is a crucial issue in most transportation systems as well as in many other applications. The task of a collision avoidance system is to track objects of potential collision risk and determine any action to avoid or mitigate a collision. This thesis presents theory for tracking and decision making in collision avoidance systems. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Full deployment of Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) on public roads is challenging for organizations in the automotive domain in terms of developing safety standards and methods while taking legacy assumptions related to having a human driver and increased complexity and complexity handling into account. Specifically, the safety of AVs in the presence of other road users must be guaranteed as far as possible for different traffic scenarios. LÄS MER

  4. 4. A methodology for operations-based safety appraisal of two-lane rural highways : Application in Uganda

    Författare :Godfrey Mwesige; Harilaos Koutsopoulos; Basil Psarianos; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :passing zones; passing rate; collision risk; accepted gap; time-to-collision; passing sight distance; two-lane rural highways; Uganda; Transportvetenskap; Transport Science;

    Sammanfattning : The majority of the road infrastructure in developing countries consists oftwo-lane highways with one lane in each travel direction. Operational efficiency of these highways is derived fromintermittent passing zones where fast vehicles are permitted by design to pass slow vehicles using the opposite traffic lane. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Decision-Making in Automotive Collision Avoidance Systems

    Författare :Mattias Brännström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; decision-making; collision avoidance; active safety; threat assessment; driver modeling;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with decision-making in systems that can detect hazardous traffic situations and assist drivers in avoiding collisions by using automatic braking or steering. The aim with these systems is to reduce the number of accidents and their consequences without disturbing the driver with unnecessary interventions during normal traffic conditions. LÄS MER
