1. Core-hole Clock Spectroscopy Using Hard X-rays : Exciting States in Condensed Matter
Sammanfattning : This thesis is about how electrons move from one place to another, that is charge transfer dynamics. Charge transfer dynamics is an important property governing chemical and physical changes that form the base for many applications such as electronics, optoelectronics and catalysis. LÄS MER
2. Ultrafast dynamics of small quantum systems studied using electron-ion coincidence spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : Studying how small quantum systems, like molecules and clusters, interact with X-rays is crucial to understanding the ultrafast processes that occur in nature on incredibly short timescales, ranging from femtoseconds to picoseconds. X-rays excite small quantum systems to unstable core hole states, leading to a cascade of phenomena, including Auger decay, nuclear rearrangement, and dissociation. LÄS MER
3. Studies of Molecular and Cluster Fragmentation Using Synchrotron Radiation: Measurements and Models
Sammanfattning : A new spectrometer for studying photoinduced fragmentation has been designed and commissioned. The instrument produces a detailed view of the energy and angular emission of fragments, which in the case of small molecules can be related to their geometry at the moment of dissociation. LÄS MER
4. Time-of-Flight Ion and Electron Spectroscopy: Applications and Challenges at Storage Ring Light Sources
Sammanfattning : This dissertation contains seven studies exploring novel instrumentation for ion and electron spectroscopy, including their applicability at storage ring light sources. The studies focus on instrumentation to study decay, dynamics and dissociation of photoexcited molecules, and the possibility to host such instruments at MAX~IV. LÄS MER
5. Laser-Based Techniques for Combustion Diagnostics
Sammanfattning : Two-photon-induced Degenerate Four-Wave Mixing, DFWM, was applied for the first time to the detection of CO, and NH3 molecules. Measurements were performed in a cell, and in atmospheric-pressure flames. In the cell measurements, the signal dependence on the pressure and on the laser beam intensity was studied. LÄS MER
