16. Lifestyle, cognitive aging, and brain correlates
Sammanfattning : Inter-individual differences in level and rate of cognitive decline typically seen in aging have been linked to inter-individual differences in lifestyle factors such as leisure activities, including physical activity. The general aim of this thesis was to further our understanding of how and why leisure activity engagement is related to aging-related changes in cognitive performance. LÄS MER
17. Designing Interactive Learning Environments to Support Learners’ Understanding in Complex Domains
Sammanfattning : This dissertation focuses on the design of interactive learning environments (ILEs) to support learning in complex domains. Previous research efforts in this field indicate that we lack a well-articulated design framework with sufficient detail to take us from a socially-situated, problem-based, collaborative learning perspective to the design of a particular learning environment for a particular subject domain. 19. Modelling self-reported aberrant driving behaviour
Sammanfattning : The highly complex behaviour involved in driving a vehicle may be viewed as a form of action control in a potentially hazardous traffic system. Behavioural adaptation to the traffic system is imperfect, as is sometimes reflected in mishaps and road traffic accidents. LÄS MER
20. Modelling driver steering and neuromuscular behaviour
Sammanfattning : This thesis challenges the traditional view of treating steering behaviour as a tracking task, instead treating it as a reaching task. Here, reaching refers to a fundamental human behaviour with the the intriguing characteristic of having a linear relationship between maximum speed and distance, effectively making the movement time constant.
