Sammanfattning : This study aimed at identifying and analyzing Aramaic loanwords in Neo-Assyrian for the period 900–600 B.C. As two Semitic languages, Neo-Assyrian and Aramaic are sibling-descendants of a postulated common ancestor, Proto-Semitic. The study provides information about the contact between the two languages and about the people who spoke them. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : Bilingual speakers cannot suppress activation from their dominant language while naming pictures in a foreign and less dominant language. 3. The element -stow in the history of English
Sammanfattning : The present study deals with words ending in -stow throughout the history of English. The OE element-stow derives from the IG root *st(h)au-o, which is the extended form of the simple *st(h)a. In the thesis, parallel forms from a number of IG languages are given and commented on. Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates learners’ reading practices and especially the processing of cross-linguistic similarities at the lexical level. The aim is to determine how learners proceed in order to understand text in French (L3). Data were collected using various reading comprehension tasks in combination with the think-aloud method.
