  1. 1. Distribution and modulatory roles of neuropeptides and neurotransmitters in the Drosophila brain

    Författare :Lily Kahsai Tesfai; Åsa M. E. Winther; Ronald Strauss; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; central complex; locomotor behavior; co-transmitter; metabotropic receptor; metabolic stress; Neurobiology; Neurobiologi; zoologi; Zoology;

    Sammanfattning : The central complex is a prominent neuropil found in the middle of the insect brain. It is considered as a higher center for motor control and information processing. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Negative Pressure Wound Therapy - Effects on Sternotomy Wounds and the Intrathoracic Organs

    Författare :Christian Torbrand; Lund Oftalmologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NPWT; negative pressure; vacuum-assisted closure; sternotomy wounds; deep sternal wound infection; mediastinitis; thoracic surgery; pressure transduction; neurohormones; neuropeptides; total heart volume variation; cardiac output; wound contraction; macrodeformation;

    Sammanfattning : Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) has been widely adopted for the treatment of deep sternal wound infections due to its excellent clinical outcome. However, the mechanisms of action and effects on hemodynamics have not been thoroughly elucidated. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Altered vascular responses in experimental congestive heart failure

    Författare :Anders Bergdahl; Lund Medicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cardiovascular system; Kardiovaskulära systemet;

    Sammanfattning : Congestive heart failure is accompanied with increased circulatory levels of several vasoregulatory neurotransmitters and hormones which affect the outcome of this disease. In this thesis the blood levels of several vasoactive peptides in humans with congestive heart failure and their effects on the vasculature by the use of an animal model of heart failure were studied. 4. 4. The role of catecholamines in regulation of renal tubular sodium transport

    Författare :Ulla Holtbäck; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :sodium balance; Na ; H -antiporter; Na ; K -ATPase; renal proximaltubules; hormonal regulation.;

    Sammanfattning : Renal sodium metabolism, a major determinant of arterial blood pressure, is regulated with remarkable precision by a variety of endocrine, autocrine and neuronal factors. All these factors are known to regulate sodium metabolism by affecting the rate of renal tubular sodium reabsorption. LÄS MER
