6. Role of GPS2 in epigenome alterations linked to metaflammation
Sammanfattning : Current evidence suggests that transcriptional and epigenomic reprogramming events, triggered by transcription factors and chromatin-modifying co-regulators, are of central importance for disease development. G-protein pathway suppressor 2 (GPS2) is a key component of the HDAC3 co-repressor complex that has been earlier implicated in cholesterol homeostasis and anti-inflammatory crosstalk. LÄS MER
7. Exploration of large molecular datasets using global gene networks : computational methods and tools
Sammanfattning : Defining gene expression profiles and mapping complex interactions between molecular regulators and proteins is a key for understanding biological processes and the functional properties of cells, which is therefore, the focus on numerous experimental studies. Small-scale biochemical analyses deliver high-quality data, but lack coverage, whereas high throughput sequencing reveals thousands of interactions which can be error-prone and require proper computational methods to discover true relations. 8. Gene expression in human skeletal muscle : effects of activity, fibre type and inheritance for diabetes
Sammanfattning : One fundamental underlying risk factor for the development of non-insulin dependent (type 2) diabetes mellitus is insulin resistance, which 80-90% of all type 2 diabetic patients suffer from. Risk factors for insulin resistance are for example obesity, surgery, severe illness, spinal cord injury, and pregnancy. LÄS MER
9. Exploring the cancer cell attractor in the Epstein-Barr virus infection model
Sammanfattning : It has been proposed, based on the theory of complex gene regulatory networks, that cell types, including cancer cells, represent attractor states of the network dynamics. In this study, we proposed an Epstein - Barr virus (EBV) latency I to latency III switch model. LÄS MER
10. Epstein-Barr virus latency in vivo and in vitro
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, I studied 1) The latency situation of Epstein- Barr virus (EBV) in bone marrow transplanted (BMT) patients and healthy virus carriers. 2) The role of EBNA1 and cellular transcriptional factors Oct and Grg/TLE family in EBV latency switch. LÄS MER
