  1. 1. Toward a tissue engineered blood vessel. Cell cultivation, hemodynamic influences and matrix production

    Författare :Sepideh Heydarkhan-Hagvall; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :tissue engineered blood vessel; co-culture vascular cells; angiogenic factors; ; hemodynamic; extracellular matrix; stem cells;

    Sammanfattning : Cardiovascular diseases are the leading causes of mortality in the western world. Thereplacement or repair of diseased blood vessels with human autografts (vein or arteries) orsynthetic vascular grafts (ePTFE or Dacron) has become a routine treatment. Autologous graftsare not always available in all patients. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Repair and Reconstruction of Peripheral Nerve Injuries. Treatment with G-CSF and Stromal Vascular Fraction

    Författare :Hanna Frost; Malmö Handkirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; peripheral nerve injuries; nerve regeneration; reconstructive surgical procedures; diabetes mellitus; rat sciatic nerve; granulocyte colony-stimulating factor; stromal vascular fraction; electrospinning; rats; Schwann cells;

    Sammanfattning : While surgery is a cornerstone in treatment of peripheral nerve injuries, it is not a comprehensive approach, and outcome is unsatisfactory, especially sensory function. The present aim was to translate recent findings about stem- and progenitor cells to improve regenerative outcome, where the cells have to be autologous, available within the same surgical procedure, and minimally manipulated. 3. 3. Tissue engineering in blood vessels

    Författare :Gisela Helenius; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :tissue engineering; vascular graft; endothelial cells; smooth muscle cells; thrombogenicity; mechanical properties; scaffold; bacterial cellulose;

    Sammanfattning : Severely occluded coronary- and peripheral arteries, caused by atherosclerotic plaques, are treated with bypass surgery. Autologous veins are the most commonly used replacement graft. Among the patients that need a vascular bypass, 5-10% lack appropriate replacement veins due to previous surgery of bad quality of the vessels. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Keratinocytes and Adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells : The heir and the spare to regenerative cellular therapies for difficult-to-heal skin wounds

    Författare :Hady Shahin; Ahmed Taher Elserafy; Moustafa Elmasry; Folke Sjöberg; Ingrid Steinvall; Daniel Nowinski; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Keratinocytes; ATMP; Bio-production; Adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells; Wound healing;

    Sammanfattning : Cell-based therapy is considered as Advanced Therapy Medicinal Product, (ATMP), which had increasingly stricter regulations in the last decade. The cells must be produced according to the ‘Guidelines on Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) specific to Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products’, adopted by the European Medicines Agency (EMA). LÄS MER

  5. 5. Formation of Composite Islet Grafts : A novel strategy to promote islet survival and revascularization

    Författare :Ulrika Johansson; Peetra Magnusson; Korsgren Olle; Bo Nilsson; Federico Bertuzzi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Islet of Langerhans; cytokines and cytokinereceptors expression; endothelial cells; mesenchymal stromal cells; transplantation; revascularization; Clinical immunology; Klinisk immunologi; cellforskning; cellforskning;

    Sammanfattning : The islets of Langerhans are small and delicate spheroid organs scattered in the pancreas responsible for insulin production. Transplantation of isolated islets is a beneficial therapy for patients with a severe form of type 1 diabetes. LÄS MER
