  1. 1. Bioaerosols and their importance for low-level Arctic clouds

    Författare :Gabriel Pereira Freitas; Paul Zieger; Radovan Krejci; Kevin J. Noone; Claudia Mohr; Martin Gallagher; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bioaerosols; Aerosols; Clouds; Arctic; Cloud Condensation Nuclei; Ice Nucleating Particles; Sea Spray Aerosol; Environmental Sciences; miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Bioaerosols are microorganisms or functional parts of them or other biological matter suspended in air. Examples are bacteria, viruses, pollen, spores, or smaller plant debris. In the atmosphere, bioaerosols can play various functional roles, such as facilitating the spread of genetic material. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Regional studies of the optical, chemical and microphysical properties of atmospheric aerosols : Radiative impacts and cloud formation

    Författare :Admir Créso Targino; Douglas Nilsson; Radovan Krejci; Richard Leaitch; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; atmospheric aerosols; particles; optical properties; cloud; ice crystals; chemical composition; Atmosphere and hydrosphere sciences; Atmosfärs- och hydrosfärsvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Atmospheric particles are ubiquitous in the Earth’s atmosphere and have potential to influence atmospheric chemistry, visibility, global climate and human health, particularly downwind from major pollution sources. The main objective of this thesis was to investigate questions pertaining to the microphysical, chemical and optical properties of aerosol particles by using in situ data collected during four experiments carried out in different regions of the Northern Hemisphere. 3. 3. Chemical composition of Arctic aerosols and their link to clouds

    Författare :Yvette Gramlich; Claudia Mohr; Paul Zieger; Ilona Riipinen; Ulrich Pöschl; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arctic; aerosols; cloud residuals; mass spectrometry; biomass burning; Environmental Sciences; miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The Arctic is a place particularly vulnerable to climate change, warming at an accelerated rate compared to the rest of the Earth. In this remote environment, the atmosphere, the ocean, the ice, and the land are all interlinked and are shaping a very complex system. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Atmospheric Production and Transport of Cosmogenic 7Be and 10Be

    Författare :Abdulhadi Kulan; Ala Aldahan; Göran Possnert; Raimund Muscheler; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Earth sciences; Aerosols; Atmosphere; Cosmogenic Be-7 and Be-10; Cs-137; Clouds; Sweden; Europe; Geovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the atmospheric distribution of the cosmogenic isotopes 7Be (half-life 53 days) and 10Be (half-life 1.51 million years) as well as the anthropogenic isotope 137Cs (half-life 30 years) in aerosols and precipitation. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Aerosol-cloud-radiation interactions in global climate models

    Författare :Lena Frey; Frida A.-M. Bender; Gunilla Svensson; Laura Wilcox; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Aerosols; clouds; global climate models; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Sammanfattning : Clouds can reflect, absorb and re-emit radiation, thereby inducing a cooling or warming effect on the climate. However, the response of clouds to a changing climate is highly uncertain and the representation of clouds in state-of-the-art climate models remains a key challenge for future climate projections.
