  1. 1. Kinetic chain weight training, strength assessment, and functional performance testing: with reference to sports and rehabilitation

    Författare :Jesper Augustsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; open kinetic chain; closed kinetic chain; weight training; strength assessment; functional tests; anterior cruciate ligament; reconstruction; fatigue;

    Sammanfattning : The overall purpose of the studies was to obtain knowledge about physical performance in healthy individuals and patients after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. Data are presented that concerns closed and open kinetic chain exercise, adaptive response to weight training, the methodology of muscle strength assessment, and the development of a functional testing protocol performed under conditions of fatigue. 2. 2. Rehabilitation after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction using patellar tendon or hamstring grafts : open and closed kinetic chain exercises

    Författare :Annette Heijne; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :ACL injury; activity level; anterior knee pain; clinical outcome; concomitant injuries; coping; fear of re-injury; goal-setting; interviews; in-vivo; knee laxity; KOOS; lunge; muscle strength; step; patient satisfaction; risk factors;

    Sammanfattning : Aim: The overall aim of this thesis was to improve the knowledge of appropriate exercises, the influence of preoperative factors for good clinical outcome as well as the patient s experience of the rehabilitation after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction with patellar tendon or hamstring graft. Methods: The strain in the anteromedial bundle of the ACL was measured with the strain gauge technique in nine patients scheduled for meniscectomy. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Motor control of the knee : kinematic and EMG studies of healthy individuals and people with patellofemoral pain

    Författare :Ann-Katrin Stensdotter; Charlotte Häger-Ross; Gunnevi Sundelin; Gertjan Ettema; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Kinematics; Kinetic chain tasks; Knee; Motor Control; Muscle activity; Patellofemoral pain; Unpredictable perturbations; Physiotherapy; Sjukgymnastik fysioterapi;

    Sammanfattning : Patellofemoral pain (PFP) is believed to be associated with deficits in coordination between the different heads of the quadriceps muscle; however, considerable debate exists in the literature regarding the presence of such a deficit. Discrepancies between studies may be explained by differences in experimental tasks, such as whether the task is performed with open (OKC) or closed kinetic chain (CKC), or whether the activity is voluntary or triggered. 4. 4. Rehabilitation following bone-patellar tendon-bone graft ACL reconstruction

    Författare :Christina Mikkelsen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :ACL injury; ACL reconstruction; ACL rehabilitation; Anterior knee laxity; Closed kinetic chain; Extension deficit; Functional outcome score; Gender; Hyperextension brace; Isokinetic open kinetic chain; KOOS; KT-1000 arthrometer; Patello femoral pain; Personality characteristics; Physical activity; Quadriceps torque; Range of motion;

    Sammanfattning : The overall purpose of this Thesis was to improve treatment and rehabilitation after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction with bone-patellar tendon-bone graft. Study I: The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compare closed kinetic chain (CKC) training and a combination of closed and open kinetic chain (OKC) quadriceps exercises following ACL reconstruction on anterior knee laxity and isokinetic muscle torque. 5. 5. A structural study of ribokinase from Escherichia coli

    Författare :Jill A. Sigrell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular biology; ATP-binding; conformational changes; kinase; ribose; X-ray crystallography; Molekylärbiologi; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Ribokinase phosphorylates the abundant sugar ribose, using ATP in the presence of magnesium. The phosphorylation is the first reaction in ribose metabolism and the product, ribose-5-phosphate, can enter the pentose phosphate pathway and glycolysis. It can also be used in the synthesis of histidine and purines. LÄS MER
