  1. 1. Population biology of the clonal plant Ranunculus lingua

    Författare :Mats E. Johansson; Christer Nilsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; clonal fragmentation; emergent macrophytes; fungal pathogens; hydrochoiy; invertebrate grazing; marginal population; Peronospora gigantea Prasocuris phellandrt regional abundance; rhizome production; size-number trade-off; vegetative reproduction; water-level fluctuation;

    Sammanfattning : The scope of this thesis was to identify, describe and quantify important life-history traits for the pseudoannual aquatic plant Ranunculus lingua in different ecological settings, by comparing populations from geographically marginal vs. central habitats. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Life-history traits and population differentiation in a clonal plant: implications for establishment, persistence and weediness

    Författare :Johanna Eneström; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; weediness; Clonal plant; resource sharing; resource storage; partitioning of genetic variation; seedling development; seed recruitment; Aegopodium podagraria;

    Sammanfattning : Clonality is wide-spread among plants, and clonal plants dominate many habitats and include many highly invasive species. Clonal growth incurs both advantages and costs and clonal plants often have reduced sexual reproduction compared to non-clonal plants which could be expected to lower genetic variation and hence evolutionary potential. 3. 3. Physiological integration and morphological plasticity in extensive clonal plants

    Författare :Tina D'Hertefeldt; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plant ecology; Maianthemum; Carex; Clonal plants; tracers; Växtekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Clonal plants show a large variation in physiological integration, i.e. the translocation of resources among ramets within the clone. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Life History Strategies in Linnaea borealis

    Författare :Mikael Niva; Brita M. Svensson; P. Staffan Karlsson; Ørjan Totland; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; Linnaea borealis; apex removal; apical dominance; clonal plant; hand pollination; matrix modelling; plant foraging; resorption efficiency; resorption proficiency; resource heterogeneity; shoot dynamics; Biologi; Biology; Biologi; ekologisk botanik; Ecological Botany;

    Sammanfattning : About 70% of the plant species in the temperate zone are characterised by clonal growth, clonal species are also in majority in the Arctic and Subarctic where they affect the structure and composition of the vegetation. It is therefore of great importance to increase our knowledge about clonal plants and their growth and life histories. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Carex humilis - a caespitose clonal plant: ramet demography, ring formation, and community interactions

    Författare :Sofie Wikberg; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ramet density; Plant ecology; Växtekologi; ramet population dynamics; aggregated ramets; intravaginal; phalanx type; LTRE; matrix model; fitness; dry grassland; hollow crown; fairy ring; central die back;

    Sammanfattning : Carex humilis forms rings of densely aggregated ramets in dry grassland vegetation in Central Europe. In the thesis I conclude that ramet demography is important both for analyzing fitness in clonal plants and for understanding how C. humilis rings are formed. I studied the ramet demography of C.
