  1. 6. Articulation and velopharyngeal function in patients with cleft lip and/or palate : Outcome predictors

    Författare :Åsa Okhiria; Daniel Nowinski; Yvonne Wren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cleft lip and palate; cleft width; cleft type; surgical technique; articulation; velopharyngeal function; international adoption;

    Sammanfattning : Cleft lip and/or palate is the most common congenital craniofacial malformation, requiring multidisciplinary treatment, including surgery and often speech therapy. Palatal surgery restores the anatomical barrier between the oral and nasal cavities as well as the palatal function needed for normal speech. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Sweden holds third place of diabetes incidence in young people after Finland and Sardinia. One fifth of the population is nowadays of foreign descent. We have a substantial number of immigrants from countries where the risk for T1D is considerably lower. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation: Risk Assessment and Clinical Outcome

    Författare :Malin Johansson; Thoraxkirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Key words: Aortic stenosis; transcatheter aortic valve implantation; outcome; acute kidney injury;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract Background: Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) has emerged as a treatment for patients with aortic stenosis (AS) and high surgical risk. To date, reports of short- and mid-term survival have been favourable. The aim of this thesis was to evaluate early safety, risk assessment and late survival following TAVI. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Treatment and outcome of anterior cruciate ligament injury: Truth or Consequences

    Författare :Richard Frobell; Lund Ortopedi; []

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the work presented in this thesis was to evaluate the incidence, outcome and consequences within the 1st year of acute ACL injury of the knee. The KANON-study, a randomized controlled clinical trial comparing surgical and non-surgical treatment after acute ACL injury, was initiated and some results are included in this thesis. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Systemic amyloidoses are a group of lethal diseases where proteins aggregate into fibrillar structures, called amyloid fibrils, that deposits throughout the body. Transthyretin (TTR) causes one type of amyloidosis, in which the aggregates mainly infiltrate nervous and cardiac tissue. LÄS MER
