21. Climate Effects on Phytoplankton Biomass and Functional Groups
Sammanfattning : Future climate in temperate regions is projected to get warmer and in many cases wetter. This poses questions about how phytoplankton in our lakes will respond. LÄS MER
22. Process Industry Energy Projects in a Climate Change Conscious Economy
Sammanfattning : Most industrial process plants consume large amounts of energy (usually in the form of steam and electricity) to produce demanded goods, such as beer or paper. However, combustion of fossil fuels has negative external effects on the Earths climate. LÄS MER
23. European Energy Policy in Transition: Critical Aspects of Emissions Trading
Sammanfattning : The overarching theme of the thesis is European energy and climate policy, with a particular focus on the role of emissions trading. The thesis consists of eight papers. Paper 1 outlines the origins and characteristics of the European Union’s Emissions Trading System (EU ETS), launched in January 2005. LÄS MER
24. Generation of urban runoff : Seasonal and climate change perspective
Sammanfattning : Runoff generation in cold regions is characterized by snowmelt contributions to runoff during the periods of thawing and changing runoff patterns due to frozen ground. This thesis project aimed at addressing these challenges by advancing the procedures for winter urban runoff computations and the assessment of control measures during the winter/spring period, when the snowmelt and frozen soils dominantly impact runoff generation in the current and future climates. 25. Nitrogen land-sea fluxes in the Baltic Sea catchment : Empirical relationships and budgets
Sammanfattning : In this thesis empirical relationships and modeling tools are used to describe the relationship between human activities and meso- and large scale riverine N fluxes from land to sea. On a large scale Paper I showed that by only having knowledge about human population size and runoff one can estimate the riverine export of DIN (r2= 0.76). LÄS MER
