  1. 16. Causal links of past climate change in Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 5 climate models

    Författare :Thanh Le; MERGE: ModElling the Regional and Global Earth system; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; solar forcing; volcanic forcing; greenhouse gases radiative forcing; Granger causality; near-surface air temperature; ENSO; IOD; CMIP5; North Atlantic;

    Sammanfattning : The climate system is influenced by various external forcings (e.g. volcanic forcing, solar forcing and change of greenhouse gas concentrations) and its own internal climate variability. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Methane dynamics in northern lakes : Insights from multi-scale observations

    Författare :Jonathan Schenk; David Bastviken; Magnus Gålfalk; Damien Maher; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Methane; Lakes; Variability; Sampling design; Models;

    Sammanfattning : Methane (CH4) is a potent greenhouse gas which is emitted to the atmosphere from both natural and anthropogenic sources. Current evidence indicates that lakes account for a large part of the global emissions of CH4, but their contribution is difficult to quantify because of large temporal and spatial variability in processes leading to CH4 fluxes from lakes to the atmosphere. 3. 18. On the use of aerosol optical properties and satellite-retrieved trace gases in regional air quality modelling

    Författare :Emma Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Model; Climate; Radiation; Satellite; Air Quality;

    Sammanfattning : The effects of anthropogenic pollutants in the lower atmosphere (troposphere) have been shown, historically and scientifically, to have a deleterious effect on both plant and animal life. Pollutants such as near-surface ozone and soot (black carbon) are two notorious examples with clear anthropogenic sources. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Modelling impact climate-related change on the thermal responses of lakes

    Författare :Ana I. Ayala; Donald C. Pierson; Stéphane Goyette; Andreas Lorke; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Modelling; climate change; lakes; thermal structure; surface heat fluxes; extreme events;

    Sammanfattning : In response to climate-related changes, lakes worldwide have experienced warmer surface water temperatures, shorter ice cover periods and changes in lake stratification. As these aspects of lake dynamics exert substantial control over nutrient availability, oxygenation and biogeochemical cycling, predicting changes in lake water temperature and stratification dynamics can improve our understanding of the consequences of warming on lake ecosystems. 5. 20. Rooting for forest resilience : Implications of climate and land-use change on the tropical rainforests

    Författare :Chandrakant Singh; Ingo Fetzer; Lan Wang-Erlandsson; Ruud van der Ent; Axel Kleidon; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Climate change; forest dynamics; human influence; land-use change; rainforest tipping; remote sensing; resilience; root zone storage capacity; tropical forests; vetenskap om hållbar utveckling; Sustainability Science;

    Sammanfattning : Tropical rainforests in the Amazon and Congo River basins and their climate are mutually dependent. Evaporation from these forests help regulate the regional and global water cycle. Furthermore, these rainforests themselves depend on precipitation to sustain their structure and functions. LÄS MER
