  1. 6. Molecular associations and transport properties of amphiphiles and gastrointestinal mucin in aqueous solution

    Författare :Géraldine Lafitte; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysikalisk kemi; transport properties; diffusion NMR; Magnetic resonance imaging; Physical chemistry; hydrophobic association; electrostatic repulsion; gel; Mucin; Surfactant;

    Sammanfattning : An effective uptake/absorption of drug formulations involve many processes; one being the transport of the active molecule through the mucus layer. The mucus layer is a complex mixture of biological molecules. Among them, mucin is the molecule that mainly provides the gel properties of the layer. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Diffusion in cationic vesicle and micellar solutions- a NMR study

    Författare :Cecilia Groth; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; vesicles; Stopped-flow; micellar kinetics; water transport; DSC; Gemini surfactant; permeability; NOESY; Cationic surfactant; NMR diffusometry; extrusion;

    Sammanfattning : Double tailed cationic surfactants are the active component in softeners. In the beginning of the 90s the active component in softener formulations was changed from a hydrolytically stable dialkyl dimethyl ammonium chloride (dialkyl quat) to a cleavable and biodegradable product containing ester groups in the alkyl chains (dialkyl ester quat). 3. 8. Emulsification of Alkyl Ketene Dimer (AKD) -characterization of dispersions and emulsifiers

    Författare :Kristina Mohlin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hydrolysis; droplet size; hydrophobizing agent; dispersion; surfactant; AKD; emulsification; viscosity; surface tension; polymer; phase behavior; Alkyl Ketene Dimer;

    Sammanfattning : Alkyl Ketene Dimer (AKD) is a commonly used hydrophobizing agent in the paper industry, introducing capillary absorption barriers for polar liquids, which makes the paper more resistant to liquid penetration. Since AKD is a so-called internal sizing agent it is usually added in the form of a water-borne dispersion. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Use of Switchable Carbamate Surfactants for Design of Reversible Colouring of Cotton

    Författare :Anna-Karin Hellström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cotton; pigment; textile colouring; de-colouring; switchable surfactant; carbamate;

    Sammanfattning : Circularity of materials is a global need. However, recycling of cotton often requires many steps involving chemical or mechanical treatments. According to the waste hierarchy, reuse is a more environmentally benign approach than recycling, giving extended lifecycles with only limited processing of materials. LÄS MER
