16. Compression-based Data Identification and Representation Learning
Sammanfattning : Large-scale data generation, acquisition, and processing are happening at everymoment in our society. This thesis explores the opportunities for applying lossycompression methods and concepts for improving information engineering techniquesthat transform a large amount of collected data into useful applications. 17. Model-Based Investigation of Machining Systems Characteristics : Static and Dynamic Stability Analysis
Sammanfattning : The increasing demands for precision and efficiency in machining call for new control strategies for machining systems based on the identification of static and dynamic characteristics under operational conditions. By considering the machining system as a closed-loop system consisting of a machine tool structure and a machining process, the join system characteristics can be analyzed. LÄS MER
18. From protein sequence to structural instability and disease
Sammanfattning : A great challenge in bioinformatics is to accurately predict protein structure and function from its amino acid sequence, including annotation of protein domains, identification of protein disordered regions and detecting protein stability changes resulting from amino acid mutations. The combination of bioinformatics, genomics and proteomics becomes essential for the investigation of biological, cellular and molecular aspects of disease, and therefore can greatly contribute to the understanding of protein structures and facilitating drug discovery. 19. Multi-LSTM Acceleration and CNN Fault Tolerance
Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses the following two problems related to the field of Machine Learning: the acceleration of multiple Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) models on FPGAs and the fault tolerance of compressed Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN). LSTMs represent an effective solution to capture long-term dependencies in sequential data, like sentences in Natural Language Processing applications, video frames in Scene Labeling tasks or temporal series in Time Series Forecasting. 20. Mining Web Logs to Improve User Experience in Web Search
Sammanfattning : The World Wide Web continues to grow in size and diversity and this makes it increasinglyhard for users to find valuable information because of heterogeneous form and contentof the documents, little knowledge about the reliability and prestige of the documents anda great deal of redundancy.Usually search engines look for documents that contain specific keywords or phrasesstated by the users as queries.
