6. Influence of fluid shear on primary nucleation of low molecular organic compounds in solution
Sammanfattning : In this project, two experimental systems have been set up to study the influence of fluid shear on primary nucleation. In the first set of experiments, in total about 3000 nucleation experiments have been done with butyl paraben/ethanol solutions, curcumin/ethanol solutions and m-hydroxybenzoic acid/1-propanol solutions in capped vials agitated with magnetic stir bars. 7. Influence of Fluid Shear on Primary Nucleation of Organic Compounds in Solution Jin Liu Doctoral Thesis
Sammanfattning : In this work, three experimental systems have been used to study the influence of agitation/ fluid shear on primary nucleation. Three organic compounds have been used with different solvents, i.e. butyl paraben in ethanol solution, curcumin in ethanol solution and m-hydroxybenzoic acid in 1-propanol solution. LÄS MER
8. WC grain growth during sintering of cemented carbides : Experiments and simulations
Sammanfattning : Cemented carbides are composite materials consisting of a hard carbide and a ductile binder. They are powdermetallurgically manufactured, where liquid-phase sintering is one of the main steps. The most common cemented carbide consists of WC and Co and it is widely used for cutting tools. 9. Molecular Dynamics Studies of Low-Energy Atom Impact Phenomena on Metal Surfaces during Crystal Growth
Sammanfattning : It is a well-known fact in the materials science community that the use of low-energy atom impacts during thin film deposition is an effective tool for altering the growth behavior and for increasing the crystallinity of the films. However, the manner in which the incident atoms affect the growth kinetics and surface morphology is quite complicated and still not fully understood. LÄS MER
10. Modelling of laser-based powder bed fusion for bulk metallic glass formation
Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis aims to develop a modelling approach to predict crystalline phase evolution in bulk metallic glass during additive manufacturing with laser-based powder bed fusion (PBF-LB). Metallic glasses are non-crystalline metallic materials that generally possess exceptional properties because of its amorphous struc-ture. LÄS MER
