6. Modeling of fracture and damage in rubber under dynamic and quasi-static conditions
Sammanfattning : Elastomers are important engineering materials that have contributed to the different technical developments and applications since the 19th century. The study of crack growth mechanics for elastomers is of great importance to produce reliable products and therefore costly failures can be prevented. LÄS MER
7. On efficient and adaptive modelling of friction damping in bladed disks
Sammanfattning : This work focuses on efficient modelling and adaptive control of friction damping in bladed disks. To efficiently simulate the friction contact, a full-3D time-discrete contact model is reformulated and an analytical expression for the Jacobian matrix is derived that reduces the computation time drastically with respect to the classical finite difference method. 8. High strain-rate experiments using high-speed photography
Sammanfattning : In many technical processes, material is deformed under conditions that contain high strain rates. Examples of such processes are collisions, impact, penetration, metal forming and crack propagation. Constitutive models including viscoplasticity have been proposed for these kinds of situations. 9. Shape measurements using temporal phase unwrapping
Sammanfattning : This licentiate thesis is devoted to shape measurements using two different optical methods. The first one is a classical triangulation method, which uses projected fringes. The second one is a new interferometric method, which uses wavelength scanning. Both are whole field measuring methods. LÄS MER
10. Finite element procedures for crack path prediction in multi-axial fatigue
Sammanfattning : Rolling Contact Fatigue (RCF) cracks in rails are among the most detrimental railway track defects regarding reliability and cost. The cracks typically grow in shear mode up to a certain length at which they might arrest or kink into a more tensile-driven growth. LÄS MER
