    Sammanfattning : This dissertation explores the interaction between the inhabitants of Stockholm and the constables of the Royal Police Chamber—Sweden’s first police force—during a period in the city’s history that is associated with stagnation from the perspectives of demography and economy.     Sammanfattning : The modal share of bicycle traffic in Stockholm increased from 20 per cent to over 30 per cent during the 1930s, and reached staggering levels during World War Two – peaking at over 70 per cent. Soon after the war, however, the share declined rapidly. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The earliest Swedish gasworks, built around 1850 in Gothenburg, Norrköping and Stockholm, were the first public utilities in Sweden. The establishrnent of these gasworks forced the municipal authorities for the first time to make decisions concerning a complicated technical system - decisions which involved not only technical, but also financial, organizational and legal components.     Sammanfattning : This dissertation deals with the period bridging the era of extreme housing shortages in Stockholm on the eve of industrialisation and the much admired programmes of housing provision that followed after the second world war, when Stockholm district Vällingby became an example for underground railway-serviced ”new towns”. It is argued that important changes were made in the housing and town planning policy in Stockholm in this period that paved the way for the successful ensuing period. LÄS MER
