16. Mesentric hemodynamics and effects of angiotensin II during circulatory stress
Sammanfattning : Mesenteric hypoperfusion and ischemia is considered to be deleterious to the intestinal mucosal barrier function and it is suggested that the renin-angiotensin system plays a pivotal role in the regulation of mesenteric perfusion. The present thesis examines the effects of the specific AT1 receptor blocker candesartan on mesenteric hemodynamics during acute hypovolemia and endotoxinemia. 18. Hemodynamic and cardiometabolic studies in patients with distributive circulatory dysfunctions : with special reference to the effects of the beta-1-adrenoreceptor agonist prenalterol
Sammanfattning : A total of 49 patients were studied, using invasive hemodynamic techniques with systemic arterial, pulmonary artery and right atrial pressure recordings together with thermodilution cardiac output determinations. Sixteen of the patients were also subjected to cardiometabolic studies, using measurement of coronary sinus blood flow by the continuous thermodilution technique and analyses of oxygen content and lactate concentration in the systemic and coronary circulation. 19. The Multilateral Initiative on Malaria - malariaforskningens cirkulatoriska system : The Multilateral Initiative on Malaria - the circulatory system of malaria research
Sammanfattning : Leaning on the poststructuralist perspective Actor Network Theory (ANT) the French philosopher Bruno Latour describes – in his model “The Circulatory System of Scientific Facts” – how scientific facts are part of a societal system and thus depend (for their status as legitimate representations of the world) on the other inhabitants of that system, i.e. LÄS MER
20. Studies on the host response to infection in the circulatory system
Sammanfattning : Sepsis is a heterogeneous, dynamic, and complex syndrome caused by interaction between the host and the invading pathogen. It is associated with an overwhelmingly dysregulated immune response, and also immunosuppression. LÄS MER
