  1. 1. Unconventional T cells in colon adenocarcinomas

    Författare :William Rodin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Unconventional T cells; MAIT cells; γδ T cells; Colorectal cancer; Tumour immunity;

    Sammanfattning : Many factors influence the initiation and growth of tumours. The infiltration and activity of immune cells in the tumour microenvironment are widely recognised as key factors affecting the clinical outcome of cancer. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Stromal collagens in colorectal cancer and in colorectal liver metastases : tumour biological implications and a source for novel tumour markers

    Författare :Hanna Nyström; Malin Sund; Peter Naredi; Per Sandström; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Colorectal cancer; colorectal liver metastases; tumour marker; stroma; type IV collagen; metastatic growth pattern; kirurgi; Surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related mortality. About 50 % of patients with CRC will develop subsequent liver metastases (CLM). The survival for untreated CLM is only a few months and liver resection provides the only chance for a lasting cure. LÄS MER

  3. 3. On microchannel acoustophoresis - Experimental considerations and life science applications

    Författare :Per Augustsson; Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; microtechnology; microfluidics; lab on a chip; separation; acoustophoresis; ultrasound; acoustic resonance; acoustic radiation force; phage display; circulating tumour cells; acoustofluidics;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents experimental studies of microchannel acoustophoresis, a technique for manipulation of microscopic objects in suspension by means of acoustic radiation forces induced by ultrasonic standing wave fields. By arranging an acoustic resonance across the width of a microchannel, the path of individual cells or microparticles can be deflected orthogonally to the fluid flow. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The role of stroma-derived substances in breast cancer progression and their function as tumour markers

    Författare :Malin Jansson; Malin Sund; Daniel Öhlund; Ola Billing; Emma Niméus; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Breast cancer; perlecan; type IV collagen; type I collagen; extracellular matrix; tumour biomarkers; Surgery; kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: In 2020, more than 2,260,000 women were diagnosed with breast cancer. Most patients are cured with surgery and adjuvant treatment, but despite that, approximately 700,000 women die of the disease every year. The historical focus on breast cancer progression has been on the malignant epithelial cell. LÄS MER
