  1. 1. Oral health in patients with Crohn's disease

    Författare :Sara Szymanska; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Crohn´s disease;

    Sammanfattning : Dental caries and periodontal diseases are the most common oral diseases worldwide. They are multifactorial diseases which include several risk factors. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Immunopathological aspects of equine inflammatory bowel disease

    Författare :Karin Olofsson; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Intestinal inflammation is a major welfare issue for horses causing colic, diarrhoea and an inability to thrive. One of the diagnoses with poor prognosis is inflammatory bowel disease (eqIBD). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Neutrophil function in health and disease - role of intracellular radicals and galectin-3 as regulators of inflammation

    Författare :Martina Sundqvist; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; neutrophils; reactive oxygen species; galectin-3; PFAPA;

    Sammanfattning : The focus for this PhD project has been to investigate neutrophil functions in different (inflammatory) settings with specific focus on phagocyte-derived intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) as well as neutrophil interaction with the inflammatory mediator galectin-3. Neutrophils, the most abundant leukocyte in human blood, have traditionally been viewed upon mainly as professional phagocytes, being able to degrade invading microbes, and thus essential in the defence against infection. 4. 4. Lung T cells in inflammatory disorders : an approach to interstitial lung disease, multiple sclerosis and smoking induced inflammation

    Författare :Mahyar Ostadkarampour; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The lungs are constantly exposed to microorganisms and environmental irritants. Pulmonary inflammation is the result of an immune process to protect the body, and may sometimes eventually result in disease. T cells including various subsets are of major importance for orchestrating the protection of the lung as well as for inflammatory reactions. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Human polymorphonuclear granulocytes in inflammation : studies with an emphasis on nitric oxide

    Författare :Gerd Lärfars; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Polymorphonuclear granulocytes; inflammation; nitric oxide; leukotrienes; tumor necrois factor; rheumatoid arthritis; interferon-gamma; chronic granulomatous disease;

    Sammanfattning : The function of the polymorphonuclear neutrophil granulocyte (PMN) is of vital importance in inflammation. For the defense against infections PMNs are armored with different weapons such as chemotaxis, phagocytosis and production of cytotoxic substances. LÄS MER
