  1. 1. Cholecystokinin, dopamine and glutamate in subcortical and peripheral control of food intake

    Författare :Min Qian; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :cholecystokinin; dopamine; glutamate; food intake;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis analyzes some of the mechanisms whereby cholecystokinin octapeptide (CCK-8) inhibits food intake in male rats. Depletion of monoamines using reserpine blocked the capacity for ingestive responses. These responses were restored in reserpinized rats by treatment with the non-competitive N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor antagonist MK-801. LÄS MER

  2. 2. On the cerebrospinal fluid disposition and neurobiological role of cholecystokinin in man

    Författare :Tove Gunnarsson; Conny Nordin; Erik Widerlöv; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Cholecystokinin (CCK) is the most abundant neuropeptide in the brain, where it acts as a neurotransmitter and neuromodulator. The tetrapeptide CCK-4 and the octapeptide CCK-8 have been implicated in various behavioural and physiological functions, such as anxiety, pain and satiety. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The influence of nitric oxide and cholecystokinin on tissue homeostasis in exocrine pancreas : an experimental study in rats

    Författare :Lena Trulsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Growth of the pancreas is stimulated by cholecystokinin (CCK) in rats. Nitric oxide (NO), which is synthesized from the amino acid L-arginine by NO-synthases (NOS), interferes with CCK in modulating the pancreatic secretion. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Factors inhibiting ingestive behavior in chronic renal failure

    Författare :Abdel-Hafiz Mamoun; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :rat; uremia; cholecystokinin octapeptide; nitric oxide; leptin; glucose; amino acids; anorexia; ingestive behavior; peritoneal dialysis solutions; hemodialysis;

    Sammanfattning : Protein-energy malnutrition and wasting occur in many patients with chronic renal failure. Reduced nutrient intake because of anorexia, nausea and vomiting, caused by uremic toxicity is an important factor. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Characterization of neuropeptide, monoamine, and amino acid release in the basal ganglia of the rat : neuronal dependence and reciprocal interactions

    Författare :Zhi-Bing You; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :amino acids cholecystokinin dopamine dynorphin microdialysis morphineneostriatum rat substantia nigra.;

    Sammanfattning : Functional interactions in the basal ganglia of rats were characterized with in vivomicrodialysis. The study was mainly focused on the dynorphin and cholecystokinin (CCK) systems. The extracellular levels of both dynorphin B and CCK were found in the pM range inthe neostriatum and substantia nigra under basal conditions. LÄS MER
