3. Troubled childhoods cast long shadows : Studies of childhood adversity and premature mortality in a Swedish post-war birth cohort
Sammanfattning : Taking a life course approach can help us to understand health inequalities. This thesis illustrates that socially-patterned childhood experiences might play a critical role for inequalities in mortality. The association between childhood adversity and premature mortality is investigated in the context of a 1953 Stockholm birth cohort. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : The current thesis discusses how tools for analysing power are developed predominately for adults, and thus remain underdeveloped in terms of understanding injustices related to age, ethnicity/race and gender in childhoods. The overall ambition of this dissertation is to inscribe a discourse of intersecting social injustices as relevant for childhoods and child welfare, and by interlinking postcolonial, feminist, and critical childhood studies. 5. Ungdomars erfarenheter av emotionell utsatthet under uppväxten
Sammanfattning : The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze the lifeworlds of youths subjected to emotional abuse during their childhoods. The following questions have been formulated: What experiences of emotional abuse do youths recount, and what do these experiences involve for the child? What picture of their encounter with the surrounding society do these youths provide, such as, for example, meetings with those close to them and with people at school, and what do these meetings involve for the child? What feelings have characterized their childhoods, and what consequences do these feelings have for the children’s lives and their transitions to adulthood? This study employs a qualitative lifeworld approach. LÄS MER
