6. Expression and regulation of CCL25 and its role in T cell localization to and function within the small intestine
Sammanfattning : Earlier studies have demonstrated an important role for the chemokine CCL25, and its receptor CCR9, in the generation of the small intestinal lymphocyte compartment. The work in this thesis was aimed at determining how CCL25 is regulated within the small intestinal mucosa, and what potential role it plays in T cell localization to and function within this site. 7. EFFECTOR T CELL HOMING TO THE SMALL INTESTINAL MUCOSA
Sammanfattning : The intestinal mucosa, including the intestinal epithelium and underlying lamina propria (LP), contains a large number of effector/memory T cells that are thought to play a central role in the generation and maintenance of mucosal immune responses and in maintaining mucosal integrity. The work in this thesis investigates the mechanisms regulating effector T cell recruitment to the small intestinal mucosa focusing on the role of chemokine receptors in this process. LÄS MER
8. Low CXCR1 Expression and Susceptibility to Acute Pyelonephritis
Sammanfattning : Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are clustered in certain individuals but the molecular basis of disease susceptibility is not known. A single gene was shown to control the susceptibility to acute pyelonephritis and renal scarring in mice. LÄS MER
9. Mechanisms of Osseointegration: Experimental Studies on Early Cellular and Molecular Events in vivo
Sammanfattning : The early cellular and molecular activities determining the early tissue response and bone formation at bone/implant interface are not fully understood. The general aim of the current thesis was to develop a model for studying the early molecular and cellular activities in different bone types, and in response to different implant surface properties. 10. Chemokine Receptor CCR9: Studies on the Generation and Localization of Gut Tropic Lymphocytes
Sammanfattning : Lymphocytes are important mediators of adaptive immune responses. Naive T lymphocytes circulate in the blood and lymph between different secondary lymphoid organs in search for their specific antigen. LÄS MER
