11. Tellurium Behavior and Management in the Liquid Phases in the Containment During a Severe Nuclear Reactor Accident
Sammanfattning : No industry is immune to accidents; however, the consequences and the probability are the parameters to consider when assessing the risks. When considering nuclear power, two of the highest-level accidents have occurred during the course of the commercial use of nuclear energy. LÄS MER
12. Modeling Solute Transport in Fractured Rocks-Role of Heterogeneity, Stagnant Water Zone and Decay Chain
Sammanfattning : A model is developed to describe solute transport and retention in fractured rocks. It accounts for the fact that solutes not only can diffuse directly from the flowing channel into the adjacent rock matrix composed of different geological layers but can also at first diffuse into the stagnant water zone occupied in part of the fracture and then from there into the rock matrix adjacent to it. 13. Computational methods for assessing chemical risk : focusing on toxicokinetic modelling in zebrafish (danio rerio)
Sammanfattning : New chemicals are constantly produced and large data gaps exist on hazards of currently used industrial chemicals, stressing the need for rapid, ethically sound and cost-efficient hazard assessment methods. Traditional methods for effect assessment based on animal testing, do not meet these requirements and thus the toxicology field has been moving towards the development of new approach methodologies which include in vitro approaches but also computational methods. 15. Towards Understanding Sustainable Textile Waste Management: Environmental impacts and social indicators
Sammanfattning : Global population growth and rising living standards have increased apparel consumption, and the generation of textile and clothing waste. This has raised concerns about lost resources and the environmental damage associated with these flows. LÄS MER
