21. The adsorption of arsenic oxyacids to iron oxyhydroxide columns : including studies of weakly hydrated ions and molecules in aqueous solution
Sammanfattning : The fundamental side of this project includes determination of ionic radii and plausible hydration numbers for the weakly hydrated alkali metal ions in solution, as well as an investigation of the intramolecular bond lengths of arsenic oxyacid species and orthotelluric acid. Experimental methods such as EXAFS, XANES and LAXS have been used for these purposes, as well as thorough screening for relevant structures in crystal structure databases. LÄS MER
22. Where did the ink go? : The effect of liquid absorption on ink distribution in flexography
Sammanfattning : The appearance of a print is affected by the individual ink layers. If the ink is unevenly distributed on the substrate it lowers the quality. This thesis puts focus on how the liquid absorbency of a coated substrate impacts on the ink distribution in flexographic printing. LÄS MER
23. Interactions between non-polar surfaces in water: Fokus on talc, pitch and surface roughness effects
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis work was to gain understanding of the interactions between talc mineral and surfaces, liquids and chemicals relevant for industrial applications, such as pulp and paper. Talc is used in the pulp and paper industry as a filler pigment, in control of pitch (lipophilic extractives) deposits and as a coating pigment. LÄS MER
24. Circumventing Spectrum Mismatch - Studies of Triplet-Triplet Annihilation Upconversion, Singlet Fission and Two-Photon Absorption in Photoactive Materials
Sammanfattning : Solar energy stands out for its potential to supply the global energy demand by itself. Therefore, it is of great value to expand the use of processes that involve light such as conversion to electricity or fuels, or to drive high-energy reactions. LÄS MER
25. Models for Wet Scrubbing of SO2 and NOx
Sammanfattning : Combustion of fossil fuels is the main source for emissions of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides. Emission regulations and the growing environmental awareness will make great demands upon cost-effective deSO2 and deNOx techniques in the future. LÄS MER
