21. Essays on the impact on households of natural resource scarcity and climate change
Sammanfattning : This thesis comprises four empirical papers aimed at comprehending the interdependencies among climate change, scarcity of natural resources such as water and forests, human health, and households’ responses.Paper I investigates the impact of precipitation variability on households’ sanitation technology choices in Ethiopia. 22. Towards sustainable energy consumption : Electricity demand flexibility and household fuel choice
Sammanfattning : Paper [I] investigates household heterogeneity in valuing electricity contract attributes that include various load controls and information sharing to induce demand flexibility. Using a stated preference choice experiment conducted with Swedish households, this paper shows that, although a large proportion of households ask for substantial compensation, some households are willing to share their electricity consumption information and require relatively lower compensation to allow load controls. 23. Pyrolysis of biomass in fluidized-beds: in-situ formation of products and their applications for ironmaking
Sammanfattning : The iron and steel industry emitted 8 % of all CO2 emissions in Sweden, 2011. Investigating alternative energy carriers is the purpose of this thesis. By pyrolyzing biomass, an energetic solid, gaseous and liquid (bio oil) fraction is obtained. LÄS MER
24. Diesel exhaust and wood smoke : mechanisms, inflammation and intervention
Sammanfattning : Background Particulate matter (PM) air pollution is associated with increased respiratory and cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Diesel engine exhaust (DE) and wood combustion are major contributors to ambient air pollution and adverse health effects. LÄS MER
25. A Study on the Population and Chemical Development of Non-Metallic Inclusions in the Tool-Steel Making Process
Sammanfattning : The present work was to study the population and chemicalcharacterization of the inclusions at different steps of thetool steel making process based on industrial trialexperiments. The inclusion populations were found to increasewith ladle age (number of heats ladle being used) beforealuminium deoxidation and before casting. LÄS MER
