6. Cerebellar function during development. Eyeblink conditioning, prism adaptation and interval production in children and adults
Sammanfattning : The focus of this thesis is on cerebellar-dependent sensorimotor tasks during development. The performance in classical delay eyeblink conditioning, prism adaptation, and isochronous serial interval production (finger tapping) was explored in typically developing school-aged children, young adolescents, and adults. 7. PDGF in cerebellar development and tumorigenesis
Sammanfattning : Medulloblastoma is a highly malignant cerebellar childhood tumor. As in many other brain tumors, expression of platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) and its receptors has been shown in medulloblastoma. LÄS MER
8. An Associative Memory Trace in the Cerebellar Cortex
Sammanfattning : Classical conditioning of motor responses, e.g., the eyeblink response, depends on the cerebellum. In the theoretical works of David Marr (1969) and James Albus (1971), it was proposed that Purkinje cells in the cerebellar cortex learn to associate the neutral conditioned stimulus with the response. 9. Effect of timing training in golf and soccer players : skill, movement organization, and brain activity
Sammanfattning : Background Although trainers and athletes consider ‘good timing skills’ to be critical for optimal sport performance, little is known in regard to how sport-specific skills may benefit from timing training. Thus, assuming that all motor performances are mediated by an internal timing mechanism, enhanced motor timing is expected to have positive effects on both planning and execution of movement performance, and consequently on complex sports actions as golf or soccer. 10. Hand function in children and in persons with neurological disorders : aspects of movement control and evaluation of measurements
Sammanfattning : Hand function is of great importance in the many daily activities that require well-coordinated hand and arm movements. Measurement of hand function is an essential element in the rehabilitation process, in order to facilitate medical diagnosis and determine developmental stages, functional levels, and the efficacy of treatment interventions.
