1. Coated Ferritic Stainless Steels as Interconnects in Solid Oxide Fuel Cells - Material Development and Electrical Properties
Sammanfattning : Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) are attracting increasing interest as devices with potentialuses in decentralized and clean electricity and heat production. Several challengeswith respect to materials have to be overcome to achieve efficiencies and life-spansthat are sufficient for long-term applications. LÄS MER
2. Neutron scattering for sustainable energy materials: investigations of proton dynamics in acceptor doped barium zirconates
Sammanfattning : Proton conducting oxides are currently receiving considerable attention for their present or potential use as electrolytes in technological devices such as sensors and electrolysers and, in particular, solid oxide fuel cells, which are among the most promising apparatuses for energy conversion. One of the main challenges for these latter devices is to combine the advantages of a solid electrolyte with those of operational temperatures below 750 °C, which is currently hampered by insufficient conductivities in the targeted temperature range. 3. Microstructure and high temperature properties of Mo(Si,Al)2 - The effect of particle strengthening and alloying
Sammanfattning : High temperature heating processes within the steel industries result in significant emissions of CO2, primarily due to the combustion of fossil fuels. Electrification of these processes, such as through the implementation of resistive heating elements, holds great promise for reducing emissions. LÄS MER
4. Functional Oxide Materials exhibiting Ionic Conductivity for Future Energy Conversion Needs
Sammanfattning : Fuel cells are electrochemical devices that transform the chemical energy in hydrogen and oxygen into electrical energy at high efficiencies and produce only water vapour emissions. Materials with the perovskite or fluorite structure types are commonly employed as the ion conducting ceramic electrolyte membranes in intermediate and high temperature fuel cells. LÄS MER
5. Atom Probe Tomography of Hard Nitride and Boride Thin Films
Sammanfattning : Hard ceramic thin films, including TiSiN, ZrAlN, ZrB2, and ZrTaB2, with applications for wear-resistant coatings, have been studied using atom probe tomography and correlated with several other analytical techniques, including X-ray diffraction, electron microscopy, and elastic recoil detection analysis. Outstanding obstacles for quantitative atom probe tomography of ceramic thin films have been surmounted. LÄS MER
