    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, methods to study gene and protein expression in cells and tissues were developed and utilized in combination with protein-specific antibodies, with the overall objective to attain greater understanding of protein function.To analyze protein expression in in vitro cultured cell lines, a cell microarray (CMA) was developed, facilitating antibody-based protein profiling of cell lines using immunohistochemistry (IHC).     Sammanfattning : Previous studies have shown that the glycosphingolipid sulfatide (3´-sulfogalactosyl-ceramide) is present and functionally involved in pancreatic beta cells. In these cells, sulfatide is synthesised as two major isoforms, C16:0 and C24:0 sulfatide, with different length of the fatty acid chain of the ceramide moiety. LÄS MER

The aim of this thesis was to study effects on steroidogenesis of single chemicals and mixtures in the human adrenocarcinoma cell line H295R.     Sammanfattning : One of the major problems with malignant brain tumours, such as glioblastoma multiforme, is that despite being able to remove the major bulk of the tumour through surgery and treating the patients with chemotherapy and radiotherapy, we know that tumour cells have already spread throughout the brain. Furthermore, we now know that the glioblastoma cells effectively suppress the patients’ own anti-tumour response. LÄS MER
