  1. 11. B cell repertoire development in normal physiology and autoimmune disease

    Författare :Åsa Andersson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; B cell repertoire; connectivity; natural antibodies; non-obese diabetic NOD ; Ig therapy; Vh7183 gene family;

    Sammanfattning : The B cell repertoire in the neonatal immune system (IS) is characterised by reactivity towards self-components, including other immunoglobulin (Ig) V-regions. These properties have been suggested to be a requirement for the development of a normal immune system. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Regulation of cytokine-induced nitric oxide production in insulin-producing cells

    Författare :Malin Flodström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; Diabetes; pancreatic islets; insulin-producing cells; cytokines; nitric oxide; inducible nitric oxide synthase; nuclear factor-kappaB; interferon regulatory factor-1; arginine; citrulline; argininosuccinate synthetase; insulin release; Cellbiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; medicinsk cellbiologi; Medical Cell Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Cytokine-induced expression of the inducible form of nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and production of nitric oxide (NO) may contribute to pancreatic β-cell damage during the development of type 1 diabetes. iNOS catalyses the conversion of arginine into citrulline and NO, a reaction regulated by the amount of expressed iNOS enzyme and by the cellular availability of arginine. 3. 13. The mechanism of integrin inactivation and cell signalling induced by c-erbB2, an oncogenic growth factor receptor

    Författare :Shahram Hedjazifar; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; c-erbB2; integrin á2â1; cell-matrix; integrin conformation; PKB; ERK; Rho; ILK; Nck-2;

    Sammanfattning : Overexpression of the oncogenic growth factor receptor, c-erbB2, is linked with poor prognosis in breast carcinomas and is used as a target for therapeutic strategies. To elucidate the mechanism underlying the tumorigenic action of an elevated c-erbB2 level, leading to homodimerization and activation, we have used an inducible system where a hybrid receptor consisting of the cytoplasmic and transmembrane domains of c-erbB2 fused to the extracellular domain of the trkA NGF receptor has been stably transfected into an immortalized mammary epithelial cell line. 4. 14. Signalling pathways in renal cell carcinoma with a focus on telomerase regulation

    Författare :Raviprakash Tumkur Sitaram; Göran Roos; Anders Bjartell; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Renal cell carcinoma; DJ-1; NBS1; PTEN; WT1; cMyc; hTERT; telomerase; Pathology; Patologi; patologi; Pathology;

    Sammanfattning : Telomerase is a ribonucleoprotein complex that catalyses telomeric repeat addition at the ends of chromosomes. The catalytic subunit, hTERT, acts as a key determinant for telomerase activity control; the induction of hTERT expression is required for telomerase activity. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Genomic adaptation and gene-dosage regulation of Drosophila melanogaster cells, and long-read software developments

    Författare :Jacob Lewerentz; Per Stenberg; Jan Larsson; Bergman Casey; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Drosophila; cell line; long read; Nanopore; Pacbio; Illumina; cancer; genome evolution; dosage compensation; structural variant; software; bioinformatics;

    Sammanfattning : Cells are the vehicles that allows genetic code to proliferate in the world, taking on various forms – as illustrated by the tree of life. The cell features are determined by the manufacturing of proteins, a process that has its blueprints encoded as genes in the genome. LÄS MER
