  1. 1. Cell therapy for denervated tissue

    Författare :Roine El-Habta; Ludvig J. Backman; Paul J. Kingham; Patrik Danielson; António Salgado; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; adipose tissue-derived stem cell; cell therapy; denervation; differentiation; myoblast; peripheral nerve injury; proliferation; regeneration; skeletal muscle; stromal vascular fraction; survival; tendon; cellforskning; cell research; Medical Cell Biology; medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Peripheral nerve injury results in denervation of tendons and muscles. The biology of denervated muscle has been well studied but little is known about the associated tendons. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Identification of Unique Hematopoietic Stem Cell Properties

    Författare :Jens Nygren; Lunds universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Kardiovaskulära systemet; Cardiovascular system; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor; Haematology; extracellular fluids; cell cycle; fusion; transdifferentiation; plasticity; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Medicin människa och djur ; quiescence; hematopoietic stem cell; self-renewal;

    Sammanfattning : Hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) are sufficient and required for life long production of all blood cell lineages. Steady state HSCs are largely quiescent and we demonstrate that the kinetics of HSC cell cycling are slower compared to more committed progenitor cells also during expansion and self-renewal ex vivo and in physiological conditions. 3. 3. Pathophysiology of blood-brain barrier, brain edema and cell injury following hyperthermia : New role of heat shock protein, nitric oxide and carbon monoxide : an experimental study in rat using light and electron microscopy

    Författare :Hari Shanker Sharma; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; blood-brain barrier; heat stress; hyperthermia; brain edema; serotonin; nitric oxide; carbon monoxide; heat shock protein; glial fibrillary acidic protein; myelin basic protein; opioids; histamine; catecholamines; naloxone; indomethacin; p-CPA; electron microscopy; immunocytochemistry; Cellbiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; Human Anatomy; anatomi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the molecular mechanisms of hyperthermia induced brain damage in rats. The results clearly establish that hyperthermia caused by 4 h heat stress at 38° C is associated with a breakdown of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) permeability which seems to be instrumental in causing brain edema and cell injury. 5. 5. Hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells and potentials for application in fetal cell replacement therapy

    Författare :Karina Liuba; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; in utero hematopoietic cell transplantation; hematopoietic stem cell; multipotent progenitor; fetal therapy; heterotypic cell fusion;

    Sammanfattning : Fetal cell replacement therapy or in utero hematopoietic cell transplantation (IUHCT) is proposed as a non-myeloablative alternative to bone marrow transplantation (BMT) for a number of inborn immunologic, hematologic and metabolic disorders. IUHCT represents the method through which variable amounts of natural or genetically modified hematopoietic cells can be transferred to the fetal recipient in hope of correcting the disorder and preventing postnatal permanent organ damage.
