  1. 1. Creating cell microenvironments in vitro

    Författare :Patric Wallin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cell migration; lipid bilayers; cell differentiation; liquid handling; surface functionalization; Microfluidics; chemotractant gradients; mammalian cell culture; cell microenvironments; in vitro screening assay;

    Sammanfattning : Stem cells have a great potential to bring about advancements in fields like developmental biology, drug discovery, cancer biology and tissue engineering. In order to be able to use stem cells to their full potential, it is important to have control over their behavior. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Macrophage-material surface interactions

    Författare :Christina Gretzer; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Apoptosis; biomaterials; cell-cell interactions; cell-material interactions; cytokines; differentiation; fibrinogen; hydrogen peroxide; LPS; monocytes; particles;

    Sammanfattning : Material surface-stimulated activation of the macrophage and the release of mediators has been suggested to be an important factor for inflammation and tissue regeneration around biomedical implants. Macrophage interactions with particles released from implants as well as macophage-bacteria interactions are also involved in implant loosening processes. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The Tyrosine Kinase GTK : Signal Transduction and Biological Function

    Författare :Cecilia Annerén; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; Protein tyrosine kinases; GTK; SHB; proliferation; survival; differentiation; β cells; pancreatectomy; cytokines; diabetes; PC12 cells; NGF; streptozotocin; focal adhesion kinase; RAP1; Cellbiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; medicinsk cellbiologi; Medical Cell Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Protein tyrosine kinases play an important role in the regulation of various cellular processes such asgrowth, differentiation and survival. GTK, a novel SRC-like cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase, was recently cloned from a mouse insulinoma cell line and the present work was conducted in order to find a biological function of GTK in insulin producing and neuronal cells. 4. 4. Roles of the Shb and Cbl Proteins in Signal Transduction and Blood Vessel Formation

    Författare :Lingge Lu; Michael Welsh; Lars Holgren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; Shb; Cbl; FGF-2; NGF; PDGF; VEGF; VEGFR-2; differentiation; blood vessel formation; PC12 cells; endothelial cells; embryoid bodies; Rap1; CrkII; Cellbiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; medicinsk cellbiologi; Medical Cell Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Formation of blood vessels occurs through two processes: vasculogenesis and angiogenesis, which are regulated by various growth factors such as vascular endothelial growth factor, fibroblast growth factor and platelet-derived growth factor. The present study was carried out in order to investigate the roles of the Shb and Cbl proteins in growth factor-mediated signal transduction and blood vessel formation. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Angiostatic treatment of neuroblastoma

    Författare :Erik Wassberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; Angiogensis; Angiostatic treatment; Apoptosis; Chromogranin A; Differentiation; Neuroblastoma; 2-Methoxyestradiol; 2-Propynylestradiol; TNP-470; Cellbiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; medicinsk cellbiologi; Medical Cell Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Neuroblastoma is a malignant solid tumor of childhood with a poor prognosis. The growth of solid tumors has been shown to be dependent on new blood vessel formation, i.e. angiogenesis. LÄS MER
