11. Novel Insights into Haematopoietic Stem Cell Regulation and Function
Sammanfattning : The haematopoietic stem cell (HSC) is a somatic stem cell essential for life long haematopoiesis; HSCs have the capability to differentiate into all mature types of blood cells and can also undergo self-renewal to maintain their own numbers. They also have the potential to reconstitute a complete haematopoietic system following HSC transplantation, also known as bone marrow transplantation, which is used to treat many haematopoietic disorders. 12. Protein tyrosine kinases in insulin producing cells : Expression and putative importance for beta-cell function
Sammanfattning : Protein tyrosine kinases are of importance for cell replication and differentiation in manysystems. The mechanisms controlling the replication and differentiation of insulin producingcells are unknown. LÄS MER
13. Consequences of Shb Deficiency on Hematopoietic Cell Function
Sammanfattning : The adaptor protein Shb has been implicated in the signaling of several tyrosine kinase receptors and previous studies have suggested a role for Shb in the signal transduction of T cells. Shb associates with the T cell receptor (TCR) and partakes in the signal propagation of activated T lymphocytes. LÄS MER
14. Generating Dendritic Cells by Direct Cell Reprogramming. Merging cellular reprogramming with immunology towards the development of novel cancer immunotherapies
Sammanfattning : Cell fate reprogramming towards pluripotency or alternative somatic cell-types has highlighted the plasticity of adult somatic cells, providing new technologies to generate desired cell types for tissue repair or for disease modeling. There is momentum to bring these concepts to immunology by specifying unique immune cellular identities that set in motion immune responses. LÄS MER
15. Cell cycle analysis of archaea
Sammanfattning : In my thesis, the cell cycle analysis of archaea and hyperthermophilic organisms is presented for the first time. Crenarchaea from the genus Sulfolobus were used as a model system. Plow cytometry and light microscopy were applied to investigate the timing and coordination of different cell cycle events. LÄS MER
