  1. 1. CRISPR Screens Identify Candidate Therapeutic Targets in Leukemia

    Författare :Maria Rodriguez Zabala; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Acute myeloid leukemia; CRISPR screen; leukemia stem cell; cell surface receptor; metabolism; immunotherapy; CXCR4; GLUT1; TFR1; H2-K1;

    Sammanfattning : Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a complex hematological malignancy marked by proliferation of immature myeloid cells with a dismal 5-year survival. A major challenge is the persistence of leukemia stem cells (LSCs) after standard treatment, leading to relapse. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Significance of mitochondrial ultrastructure for bioenergetics

    Författare :Alexandra Toth; Martin Ott; Vladimir Gogvadze; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; bioenergetics; mitochondrial ultrastructure; respiratory chain; Saccharomyces cereviciae; ATP synthase; apoptosis; cytochrome c; supercomplexes; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Mitochondria are the site where most of the energy from food is converted into adenosine triphosphate (ATP). This process is taking place at the inner membrane (IM) of mitochondria, and is called oxidative phosphorylation, and results in the establishment of a proton motive force (pmf). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Metal homeostasis as critical determinant for cellular fitness

    Författare :Jutta Diessl; Sabrina Büttner; Rajini Rao; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; metal homeostasis; manganese toxicity; coenzyme Q synthesis; mitochondrial respiration; calcineurin signaling; Pmr1; SPCA1; calcium; survival; caloric restriction; Parkinson’s disease models; proteotoxicity; Pep4; cathepsin D; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : Metals play a crucial role in cellular biology. Bulk and trace metals such as calcium and manganese regulate a plethora of cellular processes ranging from signaling and oxidative stress to proteostasis and energy metabolism. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Mitochondrial permeability transition following calcium overload. - Its role in neuronal cell death and potential as a pharmacological target

    Författare :Magnus Hansson; Sektion IV; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; farmakognosi; farmaci; Bioenergetik; Bioenergetics; neuropsykologi; toxikologi; neurofysiologi; Neurologi; Neurology; neurophysiology; neuropsychology; Neurodegeneration; Mitochondria; Brain; Pharmacological sciences; pharmacognosy; pharmacy; Farmakologi; toxicology;

    Sammanfattning : There is currently no clinically available drug with neuroprotective properties to limit the evolving cell death following e.g. stroke or traumatic brain injury. The mitochondrial permeability transition (mPT) is a potential pathological mechanism causing cell death in the CNS. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Effect of Ischaemia-Reperfusion on Rabbit Kidney and Human Brain

    Författare :Jagdish Shivlal Gondalia; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Free radicals; ischaemia-reperfusion; cell bioenergetics; NMR; ESR; carotid artery stenosis; endarterectomy; allopurinol; acetylcysteine; MMP-1; ICAM-1; MCP-9; oxLDL;

    Sammanfattning : Free radicals are produced in various organs at ischaemia-reperfusion. The final stage in radical damage is lipid peroxidation. We have demonstrated previously that a lipid-soluble antioxidant improves restoration of bioenergetics in rabbit kidneys after ischaemia, as reflected in 31P spectrometry. LÄS MER
