  1. 1. Role of caveolin-1 in brown adipose tissue

    Författare :Charlotte L. Mattsson; Barbara Cannon; Paul Pilch; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; caveolin; brown adipose tissue; metabolism; signaling; Physiology; Fysiologi; fysiologi; Physiology;

    Sammanfattning : Caveolae are 50-100 nm invaginations in the plasma membrane. Caveolae and the protein caveolin-1 (Cav1) have been shown to be important in many signaling pathways in different cell types; however, in some cell types caveolae and Cav1 do not seem to affect the investigated signaling pathways. 2. 2. Isolation of caveolae using affinity two-phase partitioning

    Författare :Parisa Abedinpour; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; metabolism; Biokemi; Metabolism; Biochemistry; basolateral; apical; immunoaffinity; wheat germ agglutinin; caveolin; caveolae caveolae enriched fraction; plasma membranes; rat lung; rat liver; Affinity Partitioning; two-phase partitioning;

    Sammanfattning : The intention of this work was to establish alternative purification methods to obtain highly purified caveolae from various tissues. In order to isolate caveolae, sufficiently pure plasma membranes are needed. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Mechanosensing in the vascular wall - the role of cellular microdomains in vascular remodeling

    Författare :Sebastian Albinsson; Kärlfysiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Physiology; tissue culture; Histologi; cytokemi; histokemi; vävnadskultur; cytochemistry; histochemistry; wall stress; shear stress; hypertension; Histology; differentiation; growth; caveolin; smooth muscle; actin; Fysiologi; Cardiovascular system; Kardiovaskulära systemet;

    Sammanfattning : The vascular wall has a remarkable capacity to adapt to mechanical forces exerted by the intraluminal blood pressure and flow. This includes rapid change in contractile tone as well as chronic alteration of vessel structure if the stimulus persists. Stretch of the intact blood vessel wall promotes growth and contractile differentiation. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Integration of signalling in smooth muscle caveolae

    Författare :Yulia Shakirova; Cellulär biomekanik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Caveola; caveolin; detrusor; cavin; smooth muscle contractility; remodelling; NO; vascular dysfunction; smooth muscle; erectile dysfunction;

    Sammanfattning : Caveolae and lipid rafts are plasma membrane microdomains that are considered to play a role in cellular signalling. Caveolins and cavins as well as cholesterol are required for the structure and function of caveolae. The papers summarized in this thesis examine the role of caveolae in smooth muscle function. 5. 5. Caveolae associated proteins and how they effect caveolae dynamics

    Författare :Björn Morén; Richard Lundmark; Volker Haucke; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Caveolae; caveolin; EHD2; cavin; microdomain; microscopy; TIRF; AFM; medicinsk biokemi; Medical Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Caveolae are a type of invaginated membrane domain that has been shown to be involved in several disease states, including lipodystrophy, muscular dystrophies and cancer. Several of these diseases are caused by the lack of caveolae or caveolae-related signaling deficiencies in the tissues in which the caveolar domain are abundant such as lung, adipose, muscle and their related endothelial cells.
