  1. 1. On Causal Attribution

    Författare :B. Ingemar B. Lindahl; Dugald Murdoch; Ingmar Pörn; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; causation; cause-condition distinction; causal selection; differentiating factor; inus condition; explanation; covering-law model; Mill’s methods; objectivity; pragmatics; responsibility; abnormalism; history; science; Theoretical philosophy; Teoretisk filosofi; Theoretical Philosophy; teoretisk filosofi;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation treats of the problem of attributing the occurrence of an individual event or state to a single cause — a problem commonly understood either as a question of distinguishing the cause from the mere conditions or as a matter of singling out, from several causes, one cause, as the cause. The main purpose of the study is to clarify some basic concepts, and some criteria of ascertainment of the cause, that may be discerned in the literature on causal attribution. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The Role of Causal Attribution and Self-Focused Attention for Shyness

    Författare :Charlotte Alm; Erik Lindberg; Ann Frodi; Henry Montgomery; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Shyness; self-focused attention; behavioral inhibition; attribution; internal causes; external causes; Blyghet; självfokuserad uppmärksamhet; beteendemässig inhibition; attribution; interna orsaker; externa orsaker; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Syftet med denna avhandling var att undersöka på vilket sätt och i vilken utsträckning blyga personer skiljer sig från icke-blyga personer med avseende på deras attributionsmönster. Resultaten från 3 kvantitativa och 1 kvalitativ studie visar en något annorlunda bild av hur blyghet relaterar till social kognition jämfört med tidigare forskning i området. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Employee selection : Mechanisms behind practitioners’ preference for hiring practices

    Författare :Kristina Langhammer; Claudia Bernhard-Oettel; Johnny Hellgren; Scott Highhouse; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; employee selection decision making; employee data collection methods; hiring practices; self-efficacy; causal attribution; behavioral intention; agency; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Despite the great advances science has made in developing selection decision aids practitioners’ generally remain reluctant to adopt them. This phenomenon is considered today one of the greatest gaps in industrial, work and organizational psychology. LÄS MER

  4. 4. On the origins of physical cognition in corvids

    Författare :Ivo Jacobs; LUCS grupp för kognitiv zoologi; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; physical cognition; causal cognition; tool use; evolution of cognition; anthropomorphism; corvids;

    Sammanfattning : Physical cognition involves a host of cognitive abilities that enable understanding and manipulation of the physical world. Corvids, the bird family that includes crows, ravens and jays, are renowned for their cognitive abilities, but still little is known about their folk physics. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Towards a flexible statistical modelling by latent factors for evaluation of simulated responses to climate forcings

    Författare :Ekaterina Fetisova; Gudrun Brattström; Anders Moberg; Rolf Sundberg; Johan Lindström; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Confirmatory Factor Analysis; Measurement Error models; Structural Equation models; Wald confidence interval; Fieller confidence set; Climate model simulations; Climate forcings; Climate proxy data; Detection and Attribution; Mathematical Statistics; matematisk statistik;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, using the principles of confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and the cause-effect concept associated with structural equation modelling (SEM), a new flexible statistical framework for evaluation of climate model simulations against observational data is suggested. The design of the framework also makes it possible to investigate the magnitude of the influence of different forcings on the temperature as well as to investigate a general causal latent structure of temperature data.
