6. Action in Mind : A Neural Network Approach to Action Recognition and Segmentation
Sammanfattning : Recognizing and categorizing human actions is an important task with applications in various fields such as human-robot interaction, video analysis, surveillance, video retrieval, health care system and entertainment industry. This thesis presents a novel computational approach for human action recognition through different implementations of multi-layer architectures based on artificial neural networks. 7. Clinical Studies on Adrenocortical Tumours using [11C]-metomidate Positron Emission Tomography
Sammanfattning : Adrenal tumours, discovered en passant in patients undergoing radiological examinations for non-adrenal disease, so-called adrenal incidentalomas, have increased dramatically in the recent era of more sophisticated diagnostic modalities such as high resolution multidetector computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Furthermore, primary aldosteronism (PA) has been documented in several screening studies as being far more common than previously believed among hypertensive patients. LÄS MER
8. Classification of High Dimensional Signals with Small Training Sample Size with Applications towards Microwave Based Detection Systems
Sammanfattning : Classification techniques attempt to resolve the problem of categorizing data into two or more classes. The data distribution is therefore the most critical fact to be aware of. LÄS MER
9. Tools for Evaluating the Fate and Bioaccumulation of Organic Compounds in Aquatic Ecosystems
Sammanfattning : The bioaccumulation of organic contaminants in aquatic ecosystems has been a key focus in environmental toxicology over the last decades. Bioaccumulation is a key concept in ecological risk assessments since it controls the internal dose of potential environmental contaminants. LÄS MER
10. Roots and Routes : Life stories of exiled Hungarian women in Sweden
Sammanfattning : This dissertation analyses the narrated life stories of Swedish Hungarian women, sharing the numerous values and experiences of Hungarian exiles. With the help of interview transcripts of five women from the first generation of Hungarians living in exile in southern Sweden, the study presents seldom-discussed angles of ascertained membership in the Hungarian nation, moving beyond traditional definitions of ethnic belonging, official census figures, and organizational categorizations.
