  1. 21. Future trends in urban stormwater quality : effects of changes in climate, catchment characteristics and processes and socio-economic factors

    Författare :Matthias Borris; Lian Lundy; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Climate change and progressing urbanization cause numerous environmental concerns, including the impacts on urban drainage. Such impacts were addressed during the last two decades with focus on hydraulic overloading of drainage systems and the means of overload remediation by stormwater management. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Nitrogen land-sea fluxes in the Baltic Sea catchment : Empirical relationships and budgets

    Författare :Hanna Eriksson Hägg; Christoph Humborg; Carl-Magnus Mörth; Hans Borg; Sybil Seitzinger; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nitrogen fluxes; Baltic Sea; primary emissions; riverine export; Scenario analysis; climate change; animal protein consumption; fertilizer use; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis empirical relationships and modeling tools are used to describe the relationship between human activities and meso- and large scale riverine N fluxes from land to sea. On a large scale Paper I showed that by only having knowledge about human population size and runoff one can estimate the riverine export of DIN (r2= 0.76). LÄS MER

  3. 23. Peakflow response of stream networks : implications of physical descriptions of streams and temporal change

    Författare :Anna Åkesson; Anders Wörman; Alberto Viglione; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Streamflow routing; peakflow predictions; parameterization; hydrological response; stage-dependency; flooded cross-sections; stream networks; backwater effects; temporal change; land use change; Civil and Architectural Engineering; Byggvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Through distributed stream network routing, it has quantitatively been shown that the relationship between flow travel time and discharge varies strongly nonlinearly with stream stage and with catchment-specific properties.Physically derived distributions of water travel times through a stream network were successfully used to parameterise the streamflow response function of a compartmental hydrological model. 4. 24. Soil and stream water chemistry in a boreal catchment - interactions, influences of dissolved organic matter and effects of wood ash application

    Författare :Sara H Norström; Ulla Lundström; Dan Bylund; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Boreal forest; catchment studies; dissolved organic carbon; soil solution; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Two small bordering catchments in Bispgården, Central Sweden, wereinvestigated in regard to soil solution and stream water chemistry during the frostfree seasons of 2003-2007. Both catchments were drained by first order streams,Fanbergsbäcken and Gråbergsbäcken, and in Fanbergsbäckens catchment anextensive investigation of the soil and soil solution chemistry was conducted bylysimeter and centrifugation sampling. 5. 25. Water Quality in Swedish Lakes and Watercourses : Modeling the Intra-Annual Variability

    Författare :Julia Hytteborn; Kevin H. Bishop; Andreas C. Bryhn; Johan Temnerud; Bergström Ann-Kristin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Total organic carbon; cyanobacteria; seasonality; water quality modeling; climate change; surface water; Earth Science with specialization in Environmental Analysis; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot miljöanalys;

    Sammanfattning : Water quality is of great importance for ecosystems and society. This thesis characterized and modeled the variation in several key constituents of Swedish surface waters, with particular consideration given to intra-annual variability and sensitivity to climate change. LÄS MER
