  1. 11. Data-driven analysis of water and nutrient flows: Case of the Sava River Catchment and comparison with other regions

    Författare :Lea Levi; Vladimir Cvetkovic; Georgia Destouni; Roko Andričević; Ronny Berndtsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; River catchment; Transboundary; Hydro-climatic change; Total nitrogen; Total phosphorus; CMIP5; Land and Water Resources Engineering; Mark- och vattenteknik;

    Sammanfattning : A growing human population and demands for food, freshwater and energy are causing extensive changes in the water and biogeochemical cycles of river catchments around the world. Addressing and investigating such changes is particularly important for transboundary river catchments, where they impose additional risk to a region’s stability. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Soil and stream water chemistry in a boreal catchment - interactions, influences of dissolved organic matter and effects of wood ash application

    Författare :Sara H Norström; Ulla Lundström; Dan Bylund; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Boreal forest; catchment studies; dissolved organic carbon; soil solution; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Two small bordering catchments in Bispgården, Central Sweden, wereinvestigated in regard to soil solution and stream water chemistry during the frostfree seasons of 2003-2007. Both catchments were drained by first order streams,Fanbergsbäcken and Gråbergsbäcken, and in Fanbergsbäckens catchment anextensive investigation of the soil and soil solution chemistry was conducted bylysimeter and centrifugation sampling. 3. 13. Alpine lake sediment archives and catchment geomorphology : causal relationships and implications for paleoenvironmental reconstructions

    Författare :Lena Rubensdotter; Gunhild Rosqvist; Ingmar Borgström; Eve Arnold; Jens-Ove Näslund; Catherine Souch; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; alpine lakes; geomorphology; lacustrine sedimentation; slope processes; glaciofluvial; Holocene; Swedish Lapland; Physical geography; Naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : Lake sediments are frequently used as archives of climate and environmental change. Minerogenic sediment variability in alpine lakes is often used to reconstruct past glacier and slope process activity. Alpine lake sediments can however have many different origins, which may induce errors in paleoenvironmental reconstructions. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Geographical Distribution of Disasters Caused by Natural Hazards in Data-scarce Areas : Methodological exploration on the Samala River catchment, Guatemala

    Författare :Agnes Jane Soto Gómez; Veijo Pohjola; Allan Rodhe; Giuliano di Baldassarre; Günter Blöschl; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; natural disasters; Guatemala; data-scarce areas; natural disaster science methods; natural disaster maps; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot naturgeografi; Earth Science with specialization in Physical Geography;

    Sammanfattning : An increasing trend in both the number of disasters and affected people has been observed, especially during the second half of the 20th century. The physical, economic and social impact that natural hazards have had on a global scale has prompted an increasing interest of governments, international institutions and the academia. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Nitrogen land-sea fluxes in the Baltic Sea catchment : Empirical relationships and budgets

    Författare :Hanna Eriksson Hägg; Christoph Humborg; Carl-Magnus Mörth; Hans Borg; Sybil Seitzinger; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nitrogen fluxes; Baltic Sea; primary emissions; riverine export; Scenario analysis; climate change; animal protein consumption; fertilizer use; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis empirical relationships and modeling tools are used to describe the relationship between human activities and meso- and large scale riverine N fluxes from land to sea. On a large scale Paper I showed that by only having knowledge about human population size and runoff one can estimate the riverine export of DIN (r2= 0.76). LÄS MER
