Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis is to illuminate meanings of the relation between human beings, technology and care, as narrated by critical care nurses and people in need of home mechanical ventilation (HMV). The data are based on narrative research interviews with six intensive care nurses (I), 13 people who were about to start HMV (II), these 13 people were interviewed for a second time six to eight months after HMV had started (III), and nine persons with more than two years HMV experience (IV). Sammanfattning : The problem focussed on concerns interaction in health and medical settings between patients and health care professionals. The issues studied relate to patient participation and influence in face-to-face encounters with professionals, and to patient evaluation of selected aspects of their experiences of modem health care. 4. Feeling Across Distance : Transnational Migration, Emotions, and Family Life Between Bolivia and Spain
Sammanfattning : What are the relational dynamics of family life as it is lived across vast distances and over time? What underpins these relations, practices, and experiences of being apart and yet together? Based on a long-term multi-sited fieldwork carried out in Spain and Bolivia from 2013 to 2015, this study sets out to address these questions by investigating caring practices, mediated connections, (non)material exchanges, and lived experiences of “doing” and “feeling” family across borders. It conveys the story of ten families divided between Madrid and the Bolivian urban areas of Cochabamba, Sucre, and Santa Cruz de la Sierra. LÄS MER
