  1. 1. Complex disease genetics : Utilising targeted sequencing and homogeneous ancestry

    Författare :Argyri Mathioudaki; Kerstin Lindblad-Toh; Panagiotis Deloukas; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ankylosing spondylitis; breast cancer; targeted sequencing; Sweden; genetics; population stratification.; Molekylär genetik; Molecular Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : The complex disease investigations presented in this thesis aimed to provide new information regarding underlying genetics by using targeted sequencing and ethnically homogeneous cohorts. This work moved past current methodologies and addressed data stratification issues, that might have been hindering new findings. 2. 2. Cardiovascular Risk Genes in Prevention and Treatment Response

    Författare :Viktor Hamrefors; Kardiovaskulär forskning - hypertoni; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; blood pressure treatment; hypertension; statins; dyslipidemia; cardiovascular prevention; cardiovascular genetics; stroke; coronary artery disease; chromosome 9p21; pharmacogenetics; pharmacogenomics;

    Sammanfattning : GENERAL AIM: To investigate how common single-nucleotide-polymorphisms (SNPs) that associate with cardiovascular disease (CVD) could be used in prevention and treatment of CVD. SUBJECTS: Subjects from the population-based Malmö-Diet-and-Cancer-(MDC)-Study (n=30447) and hypertensives from the Nordic-Diltiazem-(NORDIL)-Study (n=10881). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Genetic studies on cardiovascular disease - identification of novel drug targets

    Författare :Stefan Amisten; Kardiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; platelet; single nucleotide polymorphism; myocardial infarction; stent; G-protein coupled receptor; P2Y; cytogenetics; Genetik; cytogenetik; Cardiovascular system; Kardiovaskulära systemet;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to identify novel potential drug targets of cardiovascular disease with a focus on G-protein coupled receptors. We identified a common genetic variant of the ATP receptor P2Y11, where an alanine is substituted with a threonine at position 87 of the P2Y11 receptor that increases the risk of developing acute myocardial infarction. 4. 4. Genetic studies in rheumatoid arthritis : familial studies and analysis of relationships to atherothrombotic comorbidity

    Författare :Lisbeth Ärlestig; Solbritt Rantapää Dahlqvist; Dan Holmberg; Åsa Torinsson Naluai; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rheumatoid arthritis; genetics; familial studies; ACPA and cardiovascular co-morbidity; reumatologi; rheumatology; genetik; Genetics; cardiovascular disease; hjärt- och kärlforskning;

    Sammanfattning : Background. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease mainly affecting the joints but has also extra articular manifestations and an increased cardiovascular (CV) co-morbidity. Rheumatoid factor (RF) and antibodies against citrullinated proteins/peptides (ACPA) are diagnostically important and are related to a more severe disease. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Genetic predisposition to salt sensitivity and cardiovascular disease

    Författare :Jonas Dahlberg; Kardiovaskulär forskning - hypertoni; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NEDD4L; SGK-1; CVD; ischemic stroke; genetics; CVD deaths; myopcardial infarction;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract The average amount of salt ingested is about 10 grams daily compared to less than one gram in pre-historic life. Salt, althought somewhat debated, is considered a risk factor for elevated blood pressure and end organ damage beyond the blood pressure effect. LÄS MER
