  1. 1. Importance of renal function in cardiac surgery

    Författare :Alain Dardashti; Thoraxkirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Acute kidney injury; eGFR; Transfusion; Mortality; Erythropoietin; Cardiac surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common and serious complication after cardiothoracic surgery and is associated with increased short- and long-term mortality risk. Despite extensive studies in the field, a comprehensive understanding of this syndrome has remained elusive, partly due to divergent definitions of AKI and partly due to the limitations of available routine biomarkers to predict, prevent, and detect AKI. 2. 2. Cardiac dysfunction in septic shock : Observational studies on characteristics and outcome

    Författare :Lina De Geer; Christina Eintrei; Anna Oscarsson Tibblin; Jan Engvall; Else Tønnesen; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Cardiac dysfunction is a well-known complication of sepsis, but its characteristics and consequences, especially on a longer term, remain unclear. The aim of this thesis was to study the characteristics and the implications of cardiac dysfunction for outcome in intensive care unit (ICU) patients with septic shock. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Perioperative myocardial damage and cardiac outcome in patients-at-risk undergoing non-cardiac surgery

    Författare :Anna Oscarsson Tibblin; Christina Eintrei; Sven-Erik Ricksten; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Myocardial damage; cardiac complication; outcome; aspirin; acetylsalicylic acid; Anaesthetics and intensive care; Anestesiologi och intensivvård;

    Sammanfattning : Despite increasingly sophisticated perioperative management, cardiovascular complications continue to be major challenges for the clinician. As a growing number of elderly patients with known coronary artery disease (CAD) or with risk factors for CAD are undergoing non-cardiac surgery, cardiovascular complications will remain a significant clinical problem in the future. 4. 4. Cardiopulmonary bypass and the kidney - studies on patients undergoing cardiac surgery

    Författare :Lukas Lannemyr; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cardiac surgery; cardiopulmonary bypass; glomerular filtration rate; renal blood flow; renal oxygenation; tubular injury; N-acetyl-ß-D-glucoseaminidase;

    Sammanfattning : Acute kidney injury is a common complication after cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), and has a major impact on morbidity, mortality and costs. The mechanism of CPB-related renal impairment is not fully understood. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Vacuum-Assisted Closure Therapy after Cardiac Surgery. Sternal Stability, Cost of Care, Learning Curve and Hemodynamic Outcome

    Författare :Arash Mokhtari; Thoraxkirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Health economics; Vacuum-assisted closure; Sternum; Mediastinitis; Deep sternal wound infection; Cardiac surgery; Wound healing; Hemodynamics; Wound closure;

    Sammanfattning : Deep sternal wound infection (DSWI) following cardiothoracic surgery is a rare but potentially life-threatening complication with high morbidity and mortality. DSWI is associated with a significant increase in the length of hospital stay and the cost of hospitalization. The socioeconomic impact of DSWI is considerable. LÄS MER
