11. Long-term properties of polyethylene films : efficiency of a natural antioxidant
Sammanfattning : There is a growing awareness of the risks of pollution in biological systems and one potential problem is the synthetic antioxidants, used for e.g. the stabilisation of polymeric materials. Natural antioxidants are an interesting alternative, if the high efficiency and thermal stability of the synthetic compounds can be reached. LÄS MER
12. Thermal Degradation and Adhesion Studies of Ethylene Copolymers
Sammanfattning : The thermal stability of ethylene(vinyl acetate) (EVA), ethylene(n-butyl acrylate) (EBA), ethylene(vinyl trimethoxy silane) (EVS) and ethylene(vinyl trimetoxy, butylacrylate) (EVSBA) copolymers have been mapped out in this study. The different ester groups', i.e. LÄS MER
13. Synthesis and Characterization of Functionalized Silica Mesoporous Crystals : Cationic Surfactant and Co-structure Directing Agent System
Sammanfattning : This dissertation has been focused on the synthesis and characterization of novel functionalized silica mesoporous crystals by using cationic surfactant and co–structure directing agents (CSDA), the central concept of the synthesis method is to build proper organic/inorganic interactions by introducing CSDA into the synthesis system. By using cationic surfactant as template and anionic CSDA, carboxylic group functionalized mesoporous silicas were successfully synthesized. LÄS MER
14. Studies of ester formation on a cellulose matrix
Sammanfattning : In this work a model system has been developed to quantitatively study esterification of cellulosic material during drying and heating in which solid-state conditions can be said to predominate. The formation of ester cross-links in cellulosic or lignocellulosic composite materials during drying and heating is of interest for production of paper and wood composite boards, for wood modification and in giving cotton materials improved characteristics. 15. Molecules and Clusters on Oxide Surfaces
Sammanfattning : In this thesis X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray absorption spectroscopy, scanning tunneling microscopy, and density functional theory have been used to study the fundamental interactions between model oxidesurfaces and either organic, mixed organic/inorganic, or purely inorganic adsorbate layers. As model oxidesurfaces have served the rutile TiO2(110) surface and an in-situ grown iron oxide film supported by a Pt(111)surface. LÄS MER
