16. On the production of polyethylene dielectrics and conductive polymer composite fibres
Sammanfattning : Foamed cable insulations and conductive polymer composite fibres are two applications in polymer processing where the electrical properties of a material may be altered significantly during processing. Their common denominator is that the outcome depends to a large degree on the flow behaviour of the polymer melt, in particular the melt extensional properties. LÄS MER
17. Method development for [11C]carbon monoxide radiochemistry
Sammanfattning : Positron emission tomography (PET) is a non-invasive molecular imaging technique that has found extensive utility in biomedical research and in drug development. A fundamental pre-requisite for PET is the tracer, which is a biologically relevant molecule, labeled with a short-lived radionuclide. LÄS MER
18. Determination of OPAHs and PAHs in Particulate Matter from Ambient Air and Engine Emissions : Multidimensional Chromatography
Sammanfattning : Particulate matter (PM) is an air pollutant that seriously impacts human health. Epidemiological studies have shown associations between human exposure to urban air PM and lung cancer, respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. LÄS MER
19. Iodotrimethylsilane-Promoted Conjugate Addition of Organocopper Reagents, DDQ oxidation of Arylpropenes and Synthesis of 2-Arylcoumarans
Sammanfattning : This thesis is divided into three parts: conjugate additions of organocopper reagents, DDQ oxidations of arylpropenes, and synthesis and steric assignment of 2-arylcoumarans. The iodotrimethylsilane(TMSI)-promoted conjugate addition of alkylcopper and copper acetylides to certain a,b-unsaturated carbonyl compounds is investigated. LÄS MER
20. Environmentally Friendly Plasticizers for PVC : Improved Material Properties and Long-term Performance Through Plasticizer Design
Sammanfattning : Linear and branched poly(butylene adipate) polyesters with number-average molecular weights ranging from 700 to 10 000 g/mol, and degrees of branching ranging from very low to hyperbranched were solution cast with PVC to study the effects of chemical structure, molecular weight, end-group functionality, and chain architecture on plasticizing efficiency and durability. Miscibility was evaluated by the existence of a single glass transition temperature and a shift of the carbonyl group absorption band. LÄS MER
