21. Export and sources of organic carbon in the Lena River basin, Northeastern Siberia
Sammanfattning : Permafrost areas are considered to be one of the largest terrestrial storages of carbon. In a warming climate these areas are expected to experience changes in carbon transport to rivers and the oceans due to permafrost thawing, which could enhance erosion, change water flow pathways and increase greenhouse gas emissions. 22. Greening Earth? : Science, Politics and Land Use in the Kyoto Negotiations
Sammanfattning : Can a deliberate enhancement of the natural uptake of atmospheric carbon dioxide in forests and agricultural lands contribute to global efforts to mitigate anthropogenic climate change? This is a question that has generated a great deal of debate and controversy since the inception of the multilateral climate negotiations in the early 1990s. This thesis offers an analysis of how this debate has played out in the negotiations on the land-use change and forestry activities in the Kyoto Protocol. LÄS MER
23. Molecular filtration : the study of adsorbents
Sammanfattning : Adsorbent materials for gas purification have been studied and developed for application in many areas. It is known that a single adsorbent may not adequately control multiple contaminants. Therefore, the development of adsorbent materials has accelerated over the past two decades, and is today an area attracting a lot of attention. LÄS MER
24. Preparation and Evaluation of New Nanoporous Silica Materials for Molecular Filtration and for Core Materials in Vacuum Insulation Panels
Sammanfattning : Nanoporous materials for gas purification and thermal insulation have been studied and developed for application in many areas. It is known that a single adsorbent may not adequately control multiple contaminants. Further the utilization of nanoporous material as thermal insulator in building applications is limited due to high cost. LÄS MER
25. Isotope-based constraints on sources and processing of black carbon, carbon monoxide, and brown carbon in South Asia
Sammanfattning : The highly populated South Asian region is facing rapid economic growth and urbanization. Here, both climate- and health-affecting atmospheric agents such as light-absorbing aerosols black carbon (BC) and brown carbon (BrC), trace gas carbon monoxide (CO), are often found in relatively high levels compared to in other regions.
