  1. 1. Factors regulating the origin and magnitude of carbon dioxide emissions from high-latitude lakes

    Författare :Hendricus Verheijen; Jan Karlsson; Cristian Gudasz; David A. Seekell; Marcus Klaus; Anne Ojala; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; lake; carbon dioxide; organic carbon; inorganic carbon; arctic; emission; environmental science; miljövetenskap; climate change; klimatförändringar; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : Lake ecosystems receive, transmit and process terrestrial carbon and thereby link terrestrial, aquatic and global carbon cycles. Most lakes evade CO2 to the atmosphere, but the annual magnitude of CO2 evasion, as well as sources and mechanisms underpinning CO2 evasion from lakes are still largely unresolved. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Production and emission of CO2 in two unproductive lakes in northern Sweden

    Författare :Jan Åberg; Mats Jansson; Anders Jonsson; David Bastviken; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; lake; carbon dioxide; organic carbon; inorganic carbon; boreal; arctic; DOC; DIC; CO2; emission; thermal stratification; allochthonous organic carbon; Freshwater ecology; Limnisk ekologi; Physical geography; Naturgeografi; naturgeografi; Physical Geography;

    Sammanfattning : Unproductive lakes are one of few natural landscape compartments with net release of carbon to the atmosphere. Lakes also generally decrease the net terrestrial carbon uptake, since most of the CO2 production in unproductive lakes are derived from organic carbon produced on land (e.g. in forests). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Carbon uptake, photosynthesis and oxidative stress tolerance in macroalgae from the Baltic Sea

  4. 4. Organic carbon dynamics in the Baltic Sea : A modelling perspective

    Författare :Filippa Fransner; Jonas Nycander; Christoph Humborg; Andreas Oschlies; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; carbon cycle; organic carbon; primary production; remineralisation; terrestrial DOC; extracellular DOC; flexible stoichiometry; Redfield ratio; air-sea CO2 exchange; pCO2; coupled 3D physical-biogeochemical modelling; Gulf of Bothnia; Baltic Sea; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Sammanfattning : Coastal seas constitute a link between land and the open ocean, and therefore play an important role in the global carbon cycle. Large amounts of carbon, of both terrestrial and marine origin, transit and are transformed in these waters, which belong to the more productive areas of the oceans. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Air-Sea Fluxes of CO2 : Analysis Methods and Impact on Carbon Budget

    Författare :Maria Norman; Anna Rutgersson; Erik Sahlée; William Drennan; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; air-sea exchange; carbon dioxide; Baltic Sea; eddy-covariance method; inertial dissipation method; cospectral-peak method; Baltic Sea measurements; CO2 fluxes; Galathea 3 expedition; Baltic Sea modeling; water-side convection; coastal upwelling; carbon budget; Meteorology; Meteorologi;

    Sammanfattning : Carbon dioxide (CO2) is an important greenhouse gas, and the atmospheric concentration of CO2 has increased by more than 100 ppm since prior to the industrial revolution.  The global oceans are considered an important sink of atmospheric CO2, since approximately one third of the anthropogenic emissions are absorbed by the oceans.
