  1. 1. Carbon-based magnetic nanomaterials

    Författare :Valeria Zagaynova; Tatiana Makarova; Mauro Ricco; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; carbon nanotube; fullerene; single molecular magnet; Mn12; graphite fluoride; nanoporous carbon; molecular magnetism; magnetic properties; SQUID magnetometry; x-ray diffraction; Raman spectroscopy; Materials Science; materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Magnetism of carbon-based materials is a challenging area for both fundamental research and possible applications. We present studies of low-dimensional carbon-based magnetic systems (fullerene-diluted molecular magnets, carbon nanotubes, graphite fluoride, and nanoporous carbon) by means of SQUID magnetometer, X-ray diffraction and vibrational spectroscopy, the latter techniques used as complementary instruments to find a correlation between the magnetic behaviour and the structure of the samples. 2. 2. Electrocatalysts for sustainable hydrogen energy : disordered and heterogeneous nanomaterials

    Författare :Joakim Ekspong; Thomas Wågberg; Ludvig Edman; Tomas Edvinsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Water splitting; Electrochemistry; Nanomaterials; Density functional theory; Hydrogen evolution; MoS2; Fuel cell; nanomaterials; nanomaterial; fysik; Physics; Physical Chemistry; fysikalisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : With the current global greenhouse gas emissions, our remaining carbon budget is depleted in only 7 years. After that, several biophysical systems are predicted to collapse such as the arctic ice, coral reefs and the permafrost, leading to potentially irreversible consequences. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Carbohydrate-Functionalized Nanomaterials : Synthesis, Characterization and Biorecognition Studies

    Författare :Na Kong; Mingdi Yan; Joseph J. Barchi Jr; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; carbohydrate; glyconanomaterials; perfluorophenyl azide PFPA ; CuAAC; AAAC; coupling chemistry; 19 F q NMR; lectin; carbon nanomaterials; microwave irradiation; Kemi; Chemistry; Bioteknologi; Biotechnology;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the development of carbohydrate coupling chemistry on nanomaterials and their biological activity studies. It is divided into two parts:In part one, two carbohydrate immobilization approaches, based on perfluorophenyl azide (PFPA)-functionalized silica nanoparticles (SNPs), are presented, where the binding affinity of the glyconanoparticles was evaluated through carbohydrate-lectin interaction.
